Oil tank base

The new oil tank base is nearly done. Just got to finish laying the slabs tomorrow.

The tank going on is a round 3500l bunded job.

How perfectly flat does the base need to be? Laying the spirit level on across the two rows of slabs i have laid so far (only one row shown in the bottom pic) there is a little variation 1-2mm under the spirit level at the joins. Will this be ok? Its pretty level. Should I chuck some sand on the slabs before placing the tank to take up any imperfections or will it be fine with some minor imperfections?

(I dont know if the base of the tank is totally flat or if it has contact points)

Think it's covered in the Building Regs; there's chapter and verse out there somewhere (OFTEC?). The guy will tell you if it's wrong when he comes around to assess and certify it.

paint the fence before its fitted a few mm difference on the slabs wont harm it.

Base would be best with a slope up to the outlet end.

I just lifted the new tank up and the underside is concave. It appears to only contact the base it sits on around the outer rim of the base diameter.

Yeah, but it will settle onto any minor (and they are minor) imperfections on the base i think is the main thing.

The circular ones don't have strong floors and the entire floor area must be supported or it'll crack.
What you've done there though looks fine to me

I'm assuming you're just doing this DIY and not getting it certified as you have a combustible fence next to it?
Or how do you get around/comply they new regs?

I'm doing it. Its replacing what was there. Worst case, the fence gets taken down but the tank isn't moving!

I looked at the underside again. Its so concave that if it popped down the diameter at the base would have to pop out. I wonder how the inner tank is supported within the outer bund? I'm not taking it apart to find out though!

I'm in a pretty similar situation with next doors boundary right next to the tank but his garage is also near (just under the min of 1.8meters)
But the new tanl when I do it has to go there as there's nowhere else for it.

To be honest, this is probably overkill. Ground level here is probably above the pumps by a foot but the old tank was raised so i am just replicating it but building it a lot better. Old tank was on breeze blocks and ply sheets.
