Well yes I can see what you are saying but. That's all I need for now.
My situation is I am selling our Fifth wheel . Its far easier to sell with a tow vehicle.
My truck was fine when towing and was fine if I drove it but when my son drove it it would occasionally go into limp mode.
He refuses to sell a car with a fault so researched what else it could be as we had changed several sensors like fuel rail sensor and SCR twice.
Anyway he found a video from West Yorkshire Engines (Des Marples) on how to force a regeneration. So he followed it and the turbo went pop.

The main issue is I can't find a second hand DPF for a 2.5 Auto 07 plate.
3 years ago there fields full of them, every breaker purchased 10 of them. But when parts failed to sell (as there were so many) they weighed them in.

Having fitted a new turbo the DPF is triggering a fault. The DPF was cleaned along with everyone like intercooler and pipes to get rid of all the oil.
A stationary regen was forced by computer (snap on) and after driving a short distance the light is back on. But it also stops me trying a long drive.

I have never knowingly seen it regen since I have had it. And it's never lite the DPF light either.

A scanner with data should point you into the right direction to if a sensor is at fault or faulty reading.

(Check the pipes if an external pressure sensor as seen alot of these splitting)

As an aside, the ad blue delete was all the rage on lorries when ad blue first came about.

They have recently done something to the emissions test and it can tell if you’re burning it or not. The tester can tell by looking also. Now everyone has deleted the delete and the ad blue dosing pumps fail. Amongst other things. Not sure why. I’ve changed a few on trucks that have been put back to standard.

Mapping - don't do it! If you think - someone with a laptop and half an idea - has more computing power than the manufacturers - stop kidding yourself. What you get from the factory is - the most performance/economy/reliability money can buy in one equal package.

You need to be more systematic.

I'd expect that you can see Def differential pressure.

The no power is a derate/limp,

You need to read the codes and eliminate sensors this can mostly be done with live data

This race can't be won by skipping steps.

My sons mate works at garage with a snap on diagnostic (how good it is I don't know)

But it showed 2 codes apparently. 2001 and 2002. I was not looking at screen as I was baby sitting.....

So he forced a regeneration.
This took over an hour. Started of smokey but not too bad. Finished clear as a bell.

Driving it up the road my son immediately felt it was not producing enough power. When he got approx 2 mins away the light came on. Power had dropped even further. So my problem now is I can't drive it anywhere to get it looked at but Billcar said they would look at it. They ate 60 miles away. HcR Paul Gate will only low load it there (Northumberland) and wants to fit a new chain before he will fault find)

I have a guy who used to run a garage and he has an old version of consult III which covers 07 and he is supposed to be lending it to my son. Hopefully that might pinpoint something specific.

I’ve seen this video in the past. Exactly the reason why you take what you see on you tube with a pinch of salt.
Taking a car with a dpf issue out and driving it for miles revving the t1ts out of it is NOT how to fix a dpf problem, you need to find the reason why the re-gens stopped taking place, get some good diagnostics which will give you live data, and check the sensors if the live data shows a sensor fault, is the sensor faulty, check for continuity of the wiring if necessary and find out what external factors could be stopping the re-gen, as I mentioned earlier EGR problems can on some cars.

My 16plate Ranger never regend. The diagnostic stuff our workshop has could not pick up on any faults or force a regen. They had to get a specialist in with the very top end diagnostic equipment to discover the faults then do a regen. It maybe less hassle and work out cheaper to get a specialist in to suss your truck out

Just for clarity before my son followed Marples video. There were no lights or codes showing up.
It was just going into limp mode when my son drove it as he drove it hard.
I drive it sensible and it was fine with me.
He has ADHD and can be impetuous.
I had mentioned a guy up north (Paul Gate) my son did not know his name so searched and Found Marples.....if I had known would have said don't do it....

The only reason we assumed the DPF was going to need cleaning was 5 litres of oil has to go somewhere.....

Personally I am guessing its a sensor but it's no.point taking it to a local garage as my son knows the lads who work in most of them. And I can't afford Nissan prices, with potentially the same result as he knows two who work for Westway....

I have Delphi so I will try looking at it Monday. I don't know how to use it or read the data. Lol
This is why I get so frustrated as my wife insists on going to the van at weekends. Others might think it's great going away but I would rather be realistic and get on with things.

He has an excellent reputation to be fair. 2 month waiting list and reckons many Navara faults are compounded with a stretched chain. That may well be the case, I don't know.

Problem is who do I trust as a specialist. If I can get it running enough I will take it to Billcar if a only for the fact the guy was very helpful and many places would have told me to go away and come back with the truck.....


Their advice is fit a second hand DPF but I can't find one.
They also said aftermarket DPF,s cause more trouble.

My gut feeling is its sensor related. Which would obviously (assuming the sensors were ok) be solved by a second hand DPF.

If that was the case I would jump at it.

But I took my passatt to a "specialist" for a regass on the Aircon. 3 weeks later it was empty. I told him it had a leak before he filled it ,but he gave up after I took it back.

EGR is an interesting one.
I am under the impression I fitted a blanking plate.
My son says he does not think so.

So Monday will be taken up with Baby sitting and hoping he has a nap during the day so I can take egr off and check.

Then I hope that the laptop with nissan consult on it comes home with my son.

See if that is more helpful than delphi.

I don’t have specific Nissan knowledge with regards to stretched timing chains.
But the generic fault codes you posted earlier I did look up und it points to a sensor problem, one of them pointed to a blocked DPF, and the other to an Nox sensor. The blocked DPF being the result of the faulty sensor
If the ecu can’t get the correct info it needs to know it won’t know when it needs to re-gen

Well, I Would have thought you’d get a fault code from that?,
I have BMW’s and have specific BMW software (ISTA) which is reliable, if your son can get Nissan specific software hopefully you’ll get the answer you need, but I think your generic fault codes have already told you where to look.
