Any spring suppliers that can supply a one off?

Rebuilding the mill today and I've fallen at the last hurdle.

Detent balls and spring missing.

Now the balls I'm sure are 5/16" diameter along with the springs. But I need to find another spring.

OD: 5/16"
ID: 0.208"
Wire Thickness: 0.047"-0.050"
Length 0.735"
Springiness: Pretty stiff - you can compress it maybe ⅛" in your fingers

Then there is the way the springs are retained. Pin with chisel points. Had to TIG weld to the only one to remove it to measure spring. So will need to remake these.
(Note nut has been welded on to remove)

Just what I need a load of parts to find/acquire/make.

They've all Sprung. Probably all under the same bench

Paul Savage Springs, in Reddich.

Instead of 'springiness, pretty stiff', which is a US military specification, the number of coils would help him a lot, as would a good photo. He is a fussy man, so wash the hand before operating the shutter.

There is a guy in Glasgow I used to make 2 off for an hydraulic platform lift thing I got roped into.

He asks lots of questions then feeds it into a computer. I’ll find the name out. Can’t remember it. Atlas lifts put me on to him. They use him for their oddball stuff

Strangely, I have just done a very similar job for a friend, From my box full of old springs I didn't have a compression spring the right O/D but I did have an expansion spring the correct O/D. just stretched the spring to turn it into a compression one, Even found some balls the right size in a small thrust race. Everything worked fine.

Definitely no industry in shenfield now. Just Turkish barbers and tanning salons.

Try Raymond springs

Measure the wire dia, the spring OD, ID, count the turns, measure the height - and Lee Spring, Associated Spring, Springmasters etc will all get you on the ball park for the spring, even if you find somewhere else to get them from with a smaller, or no, minimum order charge.

Stick a known weight on it, measure the deflection, and you are even closer.

Think all the mention companies do web shop sales.
