Best place to buy a new oil tank?

Where are the best places (value/price) to look to buy a new kerosene tank? Mine has a horizontal crack running round the circumference of one of the ribs (its a cylindrical tank) and the oil company have (rightly) said they wont fill it.

But its waaaay to small and needs to be double the size at least.

eBay. Loads of people are going to heat pumps so there a lot on there. I got a 2400l for £10 and a 1800l for free.

There is someone over near Ringwood on ebay with a selection of single skinned around £150 and up to 2500litres.

Whats the advantage/rules on bunded tanks? Just that its contained if it leaks?

I had a 2000 L one delivered from the Fuel Tank Shop yesterday!! Its a Harlequin tank made in NI. Seems reasonable quality and TFTS were very good to deal with.

try gumtree too of course. lots of folk did gas conversions and are just looking rid of tanks.

No wonder people are changing heating systems and getting rid of the tanks.

Bought a gas fired Rayburn couple of years ago, planned to install it, scrap that idea.

at the moment it seems hard to win what ever direction you go ,,, dual fuel seems the best option , at least you can burn the final reminders from the gas company , and the electric bill to keep warm.

Was discussing this today, apparently a heat pump, (?) In English. You drill down into the earth, sink some pipes, and you can have a reversible hot/cold system.

Pompe a chaleur in French.

Is recommended nowadays, economy wise.

Why? If it’s been properly inspected before buying.
If it looks really old, and sun damaged then yes walk away, if it’s obviously in good condition and shows no signs of damage it should be a bargain, the second hand one I bought is fine now after 8 years.

Might work well in France, not much use in old housing stock in the UK, maybe fine for an insulated new build.
