Wifi booster shed

I've got a TV and firestick in the gym outbuilding, it's about 75ft away from my router,finds the signal but is dire.

Do the WiFi booster things actually work? Which one should I buy
Don't want to run any wires, shed runs off grid.

Do you have a direct line of sight?

They work, have used a few, results vary.

There is wireless ethernet now it's basically a wired ethernet port with a wireless connection between them then you can add a wifi access point in your shed.

you could try powerline/homeplug, that sends Ethernet over your power cable. You can also get point to point wireless Ethernet (About £120) eg :-

We have Sky with a supposed Sky compatible booster ( TP - link ). Ha ha ha ha !

Router in the lounge booster coded up to it and set in a bedroom 19 feet away through two cinderblock walls .. no signal in the bed room but we have one from booster to the computer . Grrrrrrrr
I'm having to hump a large 24 inch standalone computer c/w screen intothe lounge to get any up dates for my 3 D printing and drawing package .
We did have a BT router that pushed a signal to the booster 60 or so feet out of the bungalow to the log cabin office but that went when we took on Sky for Tv and phones .

Well, I had this almost same issue and I bought a TP-Link PoE outside wireless access point, similar to this one:

Boosters will only work if they can see a half decent signal in the first place. Ideally you'd place one half way between the router and the shed (assuming it can see a decent signal).

The ubiquity stuff is very good for point to point stuff.

Just get a long cat 6 cable and stick a cheap wifi access point in the shed. If you get decent cable as long as you don't damage it it will survive without a duct etc. My neighbour has one running along the bottom of the hedge to his garden building so he can watch sky out there. BY the time you've paid for rubbish boosters or got outside AP's, specced up to Unify etc a cable is well worth it and faster.

I have unified in the house but the shed has an old TP link AP I had sitting in a box - funnily enough in the shed!

Another for ubiquity, bloody brilliant gear,
I have a pair of 2ghz point to point nano station m2's one pointing out of an attic skylight and the other end on a tree outside my hanger, have a look on ebay, i have had ones second hand for very little cash.
I have fitted 5 access points, 2 ethernet switches and about 300 or 400 feet of wire in the house, then 2 pairs of point to points and 2 of the mesh access points to cover the whole farm steading!

The trouble with wifi extenders is that you severely loose signal quality every 'hop' you do, so if its not great to start with it will be dire by the time your laptop or whatever has connected

Good point, but the OP also says he has TV and firestick. I’m assuming there must be some power when they are out in that building / shed.

I love unified gear, have 4 AP's in my house, but this is a cable job for me!

Yup no power,
Shed runs on solar and leisure batteries, TV works off a small invertor,everything else is 12v


I will look through the suggestions when I get a chance currently just hotspotting off my phone,works quite well actually

That would mean I'd have to spend money the TV,invertor and firestick I had laying about..

Tbh I seem to have more energy than I know what to do with..

It's only a little thing in the corner that only gets used every now and then.
