It's not that strict, generation is still exempt along with various other things.Red diesel is going except for strictly agricultural use so I hear

Off grid generation is still permitted.Red diesel is going except for strictly agricultural use so I hear

yes price will go up but its tax deducibleIt's going to be banned in construction from April, no idea on private use
yes until the gov stop you using waste wood and can only use approved logs![]()
not a jokeYou joke but I think it was California that made it illegal to collect rainwater at home.

Sounds like a plan! set up a crowd funding page!I might build a big steam engine and burn old tyres for fuel...
I'm at a loss to understand how this is going to work, I take it you are on a legacy fix tariff? I checked with EDF what they can offer me - E7 is 35p/day and 21p/night with standing rate of 50p per day. Those 4.5p kWh tariffs are losing EDF money so I'd expect a massive jump as soon as your tariff ends which changes the financial viability significantly.Electricity now only costs us 4.5p / kWh!
Batteries cost approx £3500
8kva inverter was 2k ish
EDF are even doing a 2 year fix at that rate currently
I like the way it’s to counter pollution from plant. If a job needs to be done it needs to be done.
Perhaps we will go back to navi’s and steam drag lines
Or burden the national grid with electric diggers
Knock knock ….Red diesel is going except for strictly agricultural use so I hear

Would something like 10 chickens and 2 small pigs qualify and allow us to continue using red? Hang on, I'll ask Jimmy Carr.Red diesel is going except for strictly agricultural use so I hear

in certain cases id agree with you unless your a light userI've done quite a lot of off-grid Generator / Battery / Inverter systems over the last 25-years.
Bottom line? It's not as cheap as Utility electricity - no matter how you slice it.
The initial investment to do it properly and so its efficient and with a decent lifespan is significant, and of course adds to the overall cost per kwh used over the year and life of the installation. Also people often forget to factor in the depreciation and servicing into the overall cost per kwh.
Off-grid systems (done well) can be great - but they can't compete with the advantage Utility has - no or very little (generally) initial cost, plus its metered so you only pay for what you use, as you use it.
I've not done the maths, but Utility would need to get considerably more costly before off-grid would trump it.
Far better to minimise use of your Utility power if you want to keep electricity costs manageable.
Exactly so no environmental change just more tax and expenseThe current solution my contractors have seems to be a price increase to cover the switch to white
