I saw a headline about that and got the impression that it is a LOAN?There is a grant available later on in the year i believe...Can i have mine now to buy a couple of warm jumpers and a good coat for watching TV.

i love it when i get a phonecall about getting a smart meter and i quiz them how it saves money. then ask them what the standing charge is and how much a kwh they charge 
err it varies and come out with a load of crap then realise they cant win and have to listen till i give up and end the trauma for them

Must I get a smart meter in order to get the cheapest energy deal?
My energy deal is about to expire so I have started searching for different tariffs online with my provider Eon. However, to get any of the cheapest deals, it says I will have to have a smart meter.

We have a smart meter and had an interesting phone call from a sales person asking me how much energy I'd saved by having a smart meter. The way it's going, farts will soon be valuable commodities, to be nurtured, bottled and used as fuel. Having a microbrewery helps the nurturing side, I just need to be fitted with some kind of regulator and preferably a flash back arrester.

But why? We always get people making broad statements but it makes no sense that a not for profit nationalised company is not better than a greedy money grabbing private company as Shell are proving in real life.
It's about time we got people who could do their maths as infation as sure as eggs are eggs is not running as low as 7%.

But that is just poor management. Nothing to do with it being nationalised.
I know a company that is littered with wasteful practices , under the guise of modernisation. Its private.
Its the same with private companies who were pretending to produce PPE. They were certanly not nationalised but were accounting for 4.9 billion that is being written off.

I have a new one (original was 30 years old when we moved in) £150 increase on the last 1000L delivered, so no savings with oil.I miss having an oil fired boiler
Depending on the weather we use 2000 - 2500L a year.

If you mean charge for stuff then yeah they know how to do that - £10 a pint, £50 a meal for one.

Having worked up there, Im sure there is, but not the cheapest or easiest to get out or get to market. But free, who's going to pay for the drilling, production, export, processing, and transmission infrastructure.
The other thing is its not individual companies putting prices up for profits, oil and gas are comodities and traded on the comodities markets, so prices go up and down based on supply and demand. The Saudis used to close a few wells to drive oil prices up, then they opened them up and prices fell, crippling the economies of some of-their neighbours.
Gas is pre sold, if your having problems producing it, the phone doesn't half ring quick when your not exporting your allocation. This isnt a uk issue, we just seem to make a bit of a mess managing these things.
Look at electric and gas we had 4 or 5 big companies you goto ever was in your area. Then they created 1000s of jobs creating all these companies selling electric, they didn't produce, middle men. Then the middle men get their predictions wrong and all these engery companies go bump. All just layers of complexity adding cost, but also removing cost due to competition.
Is the answer one company uk fuel plc, who knows, but as a country we are not self sufficient in food or fuel so will always be manipulated by external goings on in the markets.
Right Im off to build my water turbine generator, cut-a few trees down and go in to prepper mode.
When it all shuts down the experts recon 3 days to chaos.
