so i sent 5 landrover wheels to the galvanisers to be shot blast and galvanised with some other stuff i had going that week, i have just got the bill back just £450 ish pounds, galv will have been £44-50 the rest on shotblasting.

now that is a trifle expensive in my eyes so ive rung them and even they cant say why its cost that much.

am i being tight or is that a genuinely mental price

15 years ago I was quoted £50 a wheel for blasting by local shop, wouldnt suprise me if its doubled now.
Labour is expensive, often for a rubbish half arsed job too.
If they done it well Id say its a fair price, too expensive for me tho.

I did it by hand in the end .... and removed the tyres and refitted them when I could not find anyone local to me who wanted less than £15 a wheel to remove a tyre and the same to refit

With the right kit, all set up, wouldn't each wheel take less than 10 minutes?

Recently I've been quoted £25-30+vat per wheel depending how easy they blast and £0.60+vat per kg for galv.

How sensible is it to galvanise wheels,just saying,there could be in built stresses and tension when they were made that can release at 450 degrees.

Bit steep, should have been £40-50 a wheel for blasting. Sounds like they maybe subbed out the blasting and put a big markup on it. Was this through TG?

You could probably have brought brand new steel wheels for that much cabbage.

If the "with some other stuff" along with the 5 land rover wheels included the chassis, all running gear and axels, then I reckon it was a fair price.....
"no" - I don't think you're tight - just sensible.
I had 5 lotus rims shot blasted (only) less than a year ago for £75.
