The new norm ? I seriously doubt it, as you have to follow the money trail. It's kind of like the mantra of the pharmaceutical industry........ There is no profit in a cure, only in repeat business.

Abs - on my old fiat ducato motorhome - previous owner had replaced two - crap sealing at the bottom of the windscreen, water runs down the loom into the abs motor and gubbins. Sure enough, three years in - it died.
So I took the binnacle apart, made up a timer circuit to bring the light on for a few seconds on power up.
The point being, the abs just is pointless on these, you couldn't lock the brakes if you tried, but was fitted to the cab and chassis - where it would have been useful.
For the current rebuild the whole lot is coming out, allready knocked the sensors off and filled the holes.

I feel i am 100% sure that new age and tech is more faulty and easier to go wrong on much a bigger level nowadays, in the majority of things.

Its pot luck in buying things if its not damaged or working properly. PC tech is just to many things to go wrong and you need to very PC savvy to sort it out.

Cars are rubbish now, these are made for the modern lazy driver who cant even be bothered to put there own lights on or wipers or even park a car. so more to go wrong. and when they need to do it themselves they will be stuffed ha ha.

Now a time ago things were easier and folk were not as lazy. OMG can you imagine having to wind a car window down and up. then put your lights on.

Somebody sends an email, cant read the link in it that i need to sign and send back. No printer either if i could get to it as the thing needs some stupid programme in my PC.

Thanks for the update on the abbreviated EML translation here. Different to what it referred to overseas.

EML & MIL are interchangeable TLA's over here, the prevalent one entirely depends upon which manufacturers products you've spent most time with. To complicate things, the glow plug light can also be used as a 'engine warning light', I've also had cars come in supposedly with the EML on when it's actually the TPMS light 'because it looks a bit like an engine'....
I think some of the confusion with service indicators & EML/MIL is that some people will only take the car in for a service 'when the light is on' and don't seem to be able to recognise that every time they take it in for a service there just happens to be something wrong with it as well....

Some do, some don't. A marque specific forum or YouTube is the place to find these, I've been able to reset every car I've needed to by referring to either.

Had those on our 1966 Jeep. The wiper speed varied related to the engine rpm, but they worked fine.

My last Polo needed you to be able to play the overture to Wagner’s Tannhauser on the indicator and light switches to reset the service light

Yes but not making the orginal company any money , Now take your new car to the dealership to bleed breaks as they won't work again after bleeding without the right computer

new range rover , if you run it empty , the injectors will last two or three seconds without a feed from the high pressure and they expire ,.. so run it out of fuel and it will get very expensive .

Thats not how it works with modern engines, you can't actually 'run out' of fuel, the engine management forces a misfire as a warning then shuts off the injectors, keeping the HP fuel pump 'wet' and therefore lubricated. A misfuel (petrol into a diesel) will cause damage to the HP pump and injectors, but not running critically low on the right fuel.

Ha ha! If you think that's confusing my Surf has a beeper when you select reverse but it's not got any sensors it just beeps!
