New Axminster polisher ? Mmmmm

Just got this today and as i do as many others do i have to try it out asap so did so.

And found this noise. neve rheard it before on other grinders, never had a polisher though, but it dont sound right.

opinions please.

good bad ? failure in the machine or is it normal ?

It's annoying rather than dangerous. The solenoid is rattling. I took mine apart and thought that I'd cured the problem, 10 months ago. this is the first time that I've run the grinder since then, problem back again.

Switch is arcing and will burn out.
One Shed had one, to get over it, they hand spin the machine mops, then switch it on.

i am having second thoughts now on Axminster, the band saw i am impressed with but for the damaged case which you cant see no built. I have had better real non branded chinese rubbish with less faults from the box.

They're one and the same. My T&C grinder came from them too.

I'd send it back after speaking to them to get a returns authorisation and postage paid label.

The thing is, that's basically what you have bought, just someone has stuck an "Axminster" sticker on the side of it.

There was a thread the other day, possibly here, possibly ukworkshop, where someone pointed out that any business use of the "craft" range voids the warranty.

Which seems pretty low.

I think some Axminster stuff is ok, but the bits that are ok are vastly overpriced for what they are.

And the bits that are not ok are both not ok, and vastly overpriced for what they are.

I have one of their "trade" planer thicknessers that I'll be selling when the wadkin goes back together again. It's not rubbish, but it's just rebranded Chinese sold at a high price.

I've got one of their drum sanders. It's good enough as far as drum sanders go, but they want £2800 for it now, and it's no way worth that.

Thanks guys

Just sent Axminster an email to see if there is anything they will do. If they are all like that then i doubt they can. But if they have the email then it fails it will make it easier to return it faulty i wold hope.

wont buy from them any more due to overpriced Chinese C@rp.......
when the qual comes back I'll look again.....but hold no hopes.....
glad I never bought any big stuff......
I needed a polisher so made this from scrap, aprt from the bearings....oh it has gaurds now for the belt....
