I've just bought a used Hofmann dividing head (100mm centre height). I'm just finishing off fixing the bits of it that didn't work (hydraulic lock and indexing handle). I've had it apart and I'm wondering what to use by way of lubrication for the spindle on reassembly. It runs in needle roller bearings, has a steel work driving an aluminium wheel. There is what appears to be a grease nipple by the worm, on the underside, but also what looks like a small sight glass on the side (in pic below). When I dismantled it there was oil inside it and there is what could be a drain plug (hiding behind the swiveling plate in the pic below), so I'm wondering if the body should be filled with oil?
It is like this one (but this is much newer and 125mm)
