Are they light enough to hold easily in one hand for/during use?
Yes they're very light.

Hi MattF I’ve got the same drill, and I think although it’s quite light I’m not sure I’d like to be using it up a ladder one handed for very long. That could just be me though, as I’m not to happy on ladders . Hope this helps. Graham.

I've still got a Metabo 110v SDS from the 90's - much easier to use up a ladder than a cordless, providing you support the cable of course, I think it's to do with the balance of the machine, the cordless wants to pull up and to the right when powered (much like an AK-47!) whereas the 110V one's nose weight holds it in line and you only have the rotational forces to counteract. If you've used a corded 240v sds drill up a ladder then the 18v is much lighter.
I'm also a good few years older than when I last used a corded drill up a ladder. If you've used a corded 240v sds drill up a ladder then the 18v is much lighter.
i do when you have been given a new driver for nothingI don't do Milwaukee.![]()
If your replacing drill bits, I'd look at buying better quality bits.
sharpen them up on a green stone when they get slightly blunt and grind a proper cutting edge on them instead of the impact .it works a treat even cutting metal and woodThese bricks are HARD, but yes, better bits would help.
I bought about 100 erbauer 7mm bits when screwfix were selling them off for 10p each.
I'll be shopping for better ones when I run out (about 12 months)

I've got one, but the battery fits nothing else. However, they can be re-celled or a Makita 12v slim battery slung up its chuff.they don't do a 12V SDS
