220mm Aluminium Hemispheres

Hi guys.

looking for a supplier of aluminium hemispheres. Unsure of thickness but I should think 3-5mm.

OD is 220mm

For small rafts believe it or not in the sewers.

For that thickness, is something like a pressure vessel end cap any good? Some tanks have hemispherical ends. Some tanks are aluminium. Maybe an HGV air tank supplier. Scuba diving tank?

this is essentially how I made wooden balls, only issue with metal being the waste is huge though ideal to make tooling

What about industrial water tank ball cocks? Like for farm water tanks. I know you can get copper ones that big.

You might have discuss the grade of aluminium with them as a malleable one, good for spinning, might not be good for welding.

There is a Chinese site called metal spheres.com or something. I looked at them for fire pits. Pre rona it wasn’t bad. Now I dunno. Hate to think. Should have bought them then. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

What you describe is pretty much 8" schedule 40 pipe end caps.

You can get em in aluminium if you try hard enough

Doubt if you would spin a hemisphere. Much more likely to be formed in a press or hydroform.
