The tips are carbide... the shanks are an extremely decent hardened impact rated steel. Best thing for making centre punches... you literally cannot buy a better centre punch!Most masonry bits are carbide, so likely to chip if sharpened to a point and used as a punch?
Same idea over hereSharpen them like a normal drill in a diamond wheel. They are brilliant for drilling through hardened steel, hacksaw blades etc

whats the green stone? I need a new stone for the big bench grinderi use all mine till the edge just goes of them and sharpen them on a green grindstone then as good as new . you can sharpen twice before there no good . as above they can be sharpened to cut steel and wood as well![]()
thanks might have to investhere silicone carbide i only use it on carbide tips mind not general purpose grinding even though you can . i have another grinder for that Norton Saint Gobain Neon Silicon Carbide Bench & Pedestal Grinding Wheel - Type 39C | Cromwell Tools
oh really i have a couple of blunt ones here might have to try that must take a while especially for the finer kerf bladesyou can touch bigish carbide circular saw blades up with them by hand as well if there slightly blunt. ive done a few on general purpose blades
i have a 12 inch one on an old alco saw bench and it only took less than 15 mins to do also sharpened a portable 6inch blade that hit some concrete and blunted itoh really i have a couple of blunt ones here might have to try that must take a while especially for the finer kerf blades
