talk about knee pads and what ones ?

as above been doing a bit of work more on my knees the last couple of weeks carpet fitting and painting and after a few hours on my knees i think its about time to buy a pair

now ive had a couple of pairs before and they where useless a rubber set that where so tight that once you kneel down ive fatter legs seam hurt where the straps are round my legs loose them off so there fine when kneeling they fall down when standing up

any recomendations ?

Ive been on my knees quite a bit of late.......no, not that......Im building a shed so doing the base
Ive got those that fit in the trousers....Dickies.......they never end up where you want them.......so i swapped to the strap ons (cant stop myself) and now Ive got blistered knees....and they are sore

So my recommendation is...stand up

gel ones are the ones you want that is what the pro carpet fitters use. I cant gt on with any of the ones I have had they dont stay where i need them

Tuffstuff do some that have a pocket on the front so you can put knee pads in and have plenty sticking out to kneel on
Dewalt also do a decent pair with pads in that work well.

I have some rubber ones that are on straps. Just cheap generic screw fix or what ones. The ones with the hard knee caps are better but on steel deck you’re like bambi on ice!

To be fair they suck equally when molten slag drops behind them so I generally use a pad to kneel on.

Getting on a bit so some of the above comments don't apply to me but the ones with the built in pockets I find great.

You need a leather one! I got an old hi viz and wrapped it in a welders apron and riveted the edges. Works a treat. Cost nowt.

I use some gel ones from lidl that are great so long as you aren't welding. For welding I like the idea of the leather pillow, luckily all my welding is on a bench these days

Another who prefers a floormat if possible.
For me, straps quickly become uncomfortable and pocket pads never seem to be in right place

Well ive always been happy with thé normal ones, whatever they're made of? Only issue i have is getting them in and out of thé trouser knee pockets.

Strap ons. I'll stick to niche internet sites...

I use a mechanics foam mat ,large or a small kneeling pad , find strap on knee pads uncomfortable and being vertically challenged knee pads in pockets are more like shin pads even with the shortest leg trousers

im in shorts most on the time so pockets in front are not foing to work for me
a pad is fine if your in one place buy when painting or carpet fitting id spend twice the time if i had to keep moving
a pad a few feet so ive come to the idea knee pads are the pnly way unless i get some one else to do the job but then it wont be up to my low standards

A 1" thick piece of polypropylene closed cell foam, commonly used for packaging equipment and the like, worked quite well during a recent decorating job. It actualy felt quite luxurious. It's also good for resting elbows on laminate flooring, when painting under the bath.

If the job allows, lie down and make use of the built in padding of the belly! That is how I got the grouting and skirting paint done, after a lot of time on knees tiling.
