Is it that good ??? Dewalt wrench

Its time for me to get an impact wrench as it to much a strain on my arms to do without.

So as i have a lot of gthe 18V Dewalt kit i am going to get one of these fro wheel nuts and engine bolts and trailer rebuild etc etc all for the m10 bolts and bigger.

I say i am getting lne bugt now i have decided to go ge with a £50 voucher to save afew bit Screwfix has sold out that i have my voucher for. So then i thought sod it ill get one from Tool Station where i usually go but they are aswell as FFX

Are they that good ???

is that a new model, i have the big 3 speed impact wrench, had it 5/6years its the dogs, but a tad bulky and heavy, for smaller than wheel nut stuff i use an impact screwdriver with a socket adapter.

that looks smaller than the "big" gun

even my 30 quid makita rip off one is fantastic and rips off navara wheel bolts with ease, even after a good tightening with a 1 metre bar. I bet that one can do far more and far less "disposable"

899 is what i have, fantastic bit of kit for the money. replaced my ageing snapon 18v, i was amazed at how much grunt it had especialy for £150 bare

Thats the reason i chose the 894N as it only 1.5kg towards the 2.5kg in weight tool. and it is smaller. I have been debating for weeks over them both and which to get. I thinkt eh 899 will be to much for my needs.

Not sure if its new, or when it came out really. When i got my kit about 8 months ago it was available then though,.


I have this impact driver but cant see it up to wheel nuts or even M10

So if i go for the 899 how do i control the grunt from full torque / nm given. is it a case of tighten it up a bit then torque wrench it. sorry to ask a maybe dumb question but never really used one properly before.
Wheel nuts i see are generally no more than 150nm and the 899 is i think 940nm

My thoughts exactly, but why are they so high rated like the 899 rated to 940nm ? when wheel nuts are around 150nm.

So they could snap of nuts ? like a 950nm on a seized M10 bolt which is rated to max M20 ?

So the max NM is 950Nm so thats the max tightening, but it has a max 1625Nm of breakaway torque. so the tightening of 950Nm is not needed.

Am i reading this wrong ?

personally own 894, perfect balance here, my bigger one is chicage pneumatics 750NM, the 894 is just in the sweetspot and cannot say it is weak, it is easily snaps wheel bolts on my passat. Got the 887 too, a perfect lightweight impact wrench.

like the garage did to my mates merk had to use a large powerbar to undo them after just 3 days fitting

I knew a tyre fitter that thought it funny to over tighten wheel nuts , until he got a puncture in his own car in the middle of a safari park. He managed to get the car out to a safe place to change the wheel but was unable to undo the wheel nuts, he ended up walking 3 miles to borrow a wheel brace , then had to walk back with it

so still no answer to my question, if wheel nuts are around max 150Nm then why are they set to so much more Nm on the tightening not?
