12v dewalt

Anyone using the 12v dewalt drills and impacts . Looking for something for around the house and to throw into tool bag for small jobs . I have all the 18v gear I need not looking for something to replace or compare to it looking for something cheaper and smaller . Screw fix has a kit for €165 and am tempted to buy

ive got 12v boash older but as the 18v in near the tool bag its what gets thrown in to use ive never had to pullout the 12v for any other reason i can think of is space thats only happened once to memery

i have the 12 volt milwaukee driver only and its nice and light and only needs charging every 2 weeks gets used all the time for putting dry wall screws in

Mines the 3/8 drive fuel one & I use it with a 1/4 6 point bit adapter most of the time!

Can't believe the size of screws it drives

12V kit is great, But I will admit sometimes 18V is needed

no chuck on it just the collet for the driver bits i use the 18 volt drill for up to 10mm masonary bits and twist drills after that its the sds drill +chissel on a 6ah battery

Great for around the house I bought the dck2110 twin kit it’s deadly little kit
I already have a lot of 18v but I wanted something handy for the house. It doesn’t leave the house

The 12v Dewalt stuff is really good, it may have changed but it was listed as 10.8V in the UK, 12VMAX in the US.

They are perfect for smaller jobs. The torches are pretty good, if you shop around you can buy them for £15-20

I have 18v kit but I have 10.8 drill,impact driver,impact wrench and a couple of torches

They have plenty of power for what they are and he already has the 18v stuff but is looking for something smaller.

As said iv all the 18v gear I need and it’s kept in the van and workshop . I’m looking for something for around the house mainly doing the odd jobs the missus has for me at weekends . Iv been on paying jobs and missing my impact as I left it in the house so looking for something small cheap and useable. Looked at a few reviews so think il get them worse case il give them to the nephew if there no good

It seems the world has gone massive battery crazy but it's just not needed for all jobs, I often pick up the 10.8v stuff because it's nice and compact and I can tuck them in my pocket.

I've just looked at Screwfix and they are called 12v here now too but the 10.8v stuff is the same. Our 18V stuff is called 20V Max in the US

the 12 volt Milwaukee driver i have will stuff a 3 inch screw in to solid wood no probs without slowing down. i have all the big heavy stuff but why would you use it for small stuff

I have got some bosch stuff in both 12v and 18v.

As said, the 18v has a lot more power and the batteries last a lot longer.
Well, you can get big 12v extended run batteries but that kind of defeats the point of having them.

For what they are, the 12v tools are fine, a lot easier to use one handed, smaller so better in tighter areas, more comfortable to hold for longer periods, especially if working low down or above head height.
You can also clip 2 or 3 of them to a belt and put a couple of spare batteries in your pockets without your trousers falling down.

Just for one off jobs I would put up with using the 18v stuff but for stuff I do regularly or for long periods of time I have got the 12v ones.
The little 1/4" impact driver is a lot better than trying to use an 18v drill as a screwdriver.
The 12v jigsaw chomps through 3/4" marine ply with no problem,
The little 12v drill is handy as well as I can do a pilot hole with it then drill out with the 18v then use the 12v again to countersink/deburr holes.

I don't think I would buy any of them just because they are nice to have, I have only bought them as a jjib has come in that justifys having one!
Obviously, once you have bought a few batteries and chargers it's a lot easier to justify buying more bare tools though

Milwaukee Fuel 12v SDS Just as powerful as some 18v you dont need all the weight of an 18v until you go up to really big size drill or chiselling. Can't fault it.

Good thing about the Dewalt is the 10.8/12v and 18v all fit in the same chargers

Agree, all of my 12v stuff has enough power for the size of the tools, on something like a 3" grinder by the time you think you need more power you will be wanting to step up to a 5" grinder anyway.

get the bosch, mine gets used all the time, dewalt is to big to see any benefit

Ps all my 18v is DeWalt

I don't even know why I went for the bosch?
Most of my 18v is bosch so I didn't really think about it but none of the 18/12 stuff is interchangeable so no reason for brand loyalty.

The only thing is, the dremel and bosch chargers are interchangeable and I already had the dremel ones.
Annoying that the batteries are the same but in a different casing so they don't fit.

I had 2 sets of Dewalt drill/impact 10.8v they were in the nice Dewalt handbags and even though i have the 18v stuff the 10.8 is useful round the house as it is smaller and i can get into tight spaces but as i had 2 sets i gave a set to a lad in my extended family to get him started out.
