How you store the leads can help them last longer, a lot of folks just wrap them tightly round the meter.

Depending on the case size I either coil them under or next to the meter or wrap them loosely round the long side

only get a year out of test leads no matter what make on my meger

I really dont like megger leads, had great results with kewtech but the newer ones seem different

My dilog leads are awful

I dont wrap leads. I loop them up and pop them into of the tool in the box.

Finally had to replace my tracksaw lead after 7 years hard use

My Luke 75 was given to me by my uncle, maybe 25 years ago.

he was the service manager at Comet, remember them?

always stored in a box with cut out for meter and cables

probably only get used few times a year

I bought this set a few months ago, mainly to get the attachments but the leads are surprisingly good quality. The probe tips are needle sharp, great for piercing insulation (and fingers) and the small hook things are great for testing components (the main picture is not to scale, the hooks are really tiny!)

Are they fused? If not then no use on LV / site as not GS38 compliant.

Can't comment on that brand but the screw thread for attaching croc clips is definitely worth having. I have a Fluke 73 but the probes I use are from an ancient Maplin DMM and have the screw-on clips. It's like having an extra pair of hands.

I use mine to measure minuscule signals (millivolts for checking thermocouples mostly) - the sort of stuff that “gold plating” would supposedly help with as it doesn’t oxidise - and yet it comes back from a UKAS accredited lab calibrated perfectly in the mv range using normal leads

They may be necessary to someone but can’t see the point for the majority of use.

Gold plating isn't particularly durable, and wears away quite quickly when used for test lead probe tips. It would be better to get rhodium plated test lead tips, which don't seem to be widely available, although rhodium is quite commonly used on the tips of spring test probes in automated multiprobe testing systems.

I'm the same with cables, had flight cases of audio leads, no good turning up at a gig with broken leads and nothing worse then needing a lead and they are all tangled

With rope a friend use to say " an untidy rope is a dangerous rope" he is right if you need a rope you need to be able to use it.
