Looking for some advice.
My trusty VW Jetta 1.9 TDI (2007) shredded its cambelt on the motorway tonight. It's actually still on there but it's jumped. I haven't had a proper look to see what caused it yet as I've only just warmed up after sitting in a ditch in the rain for 2 hours.
I'm wondering whether it's worthwhile throwing a new belt on to see what happens, which means buying the tools or having it done elsewhere: potentially money down the drain.
Mechanics with experience of this engine - likelihood of FUBAR?
Thanks...
