There wee two options we looked at for daughters combi heated bungalow.
1. Fit stainless unvented tank with pv powered immersion, connect temperature controlled out put into combi cold input.
This should work, the combi heat exchanger is stainless, the burner just wouldn't light as long as the water temp was high enough.
2. Fit stainless unvented tank with pv powered immersion. Forget about the combi outlet, just have an additional zone fed into the heating coil in the stainless tank to top up when pv not working.
This would need the boiler setting quite high, but also the immersion heater could be used on mains electric if required.
Haven't tried it yet, but option 2 seemed less risky. As for legionaires - anyone with pv hot water will tell you how hot the tank will get...
Combi isn't designed to accept hot water, would just refuse to fire.
Legionella is not just about temperature, storage and distribution are bigger factors

Our combi gives fantastic shower pressure. Far better than the conventional boiler/storage system in the old house. If anything, it's too powerful... and too hot!
A lot of it has to do with mains incoming pressure I think.

Showers - another stomping ground for legionella! sorry, just throwing it out there...............You still will need to heat water for showers etc...
Needs MVHR then. But that's another system to buy and maintain
Kids need a bath...
The 'letric shower was removed, is on a shelf in the garage.

anyone ever seen anyone with legionella . I havewas working at a blokes house on the landing fixing a light when he came past me staggering around
next minute he keeled over and nearly fell down the stairs
and would have if I hadn't grabbed him quick enough by his dressing gown and scruff of the neck
ambulance called and he went in to hospital and snuffed it a few days later

Whoa Trigger! I was only throwing it out there to ‘stir the pot’And how many years have we all been taking showers - without dying from legionaires disease?
Exactly.
Whoa Trigger! I was only throwing it out there to ‘stir the pot’I agree with you, however showers are a stomping ground for legionella.
Forgive me - it's just that it seems to be a reason for not doing all kinds of things these days, like the angel of death hanging over anyone who dares to use water not over 60 deg.
A bit of common sense is all it takes to avoid imho.
