Wireless security cameras

Morning all, I'm looking at fitting some home security cameras at home. Currently looking at the Eufy range as its expandable and can last a year on a full charge. Theres no subscription and I think you can look at the footage remotely via an app which I like.

Any others I should be looking at before I take the plunge?

I was given a ring one for my birthday this year its great but there is a subscription which I have not singed up to yet so I dont get the saved fottage.
Are the Eufy ones wi-fi?

Not 100% sure but they are wireless and come with a hub which I assume will connect to a router via ethernet or Wifi. They can also integrate with Alexa, have night vision and can be set to alert when humans are picked up in the field of vision.

My alarm system I installed is wired and has been totally reliable but I just can't be arsed to run more cables so these look appealing.

pay for what you want but in the long run you will pay more in the end because you cant be bothered

The Eufy are supposed to be 1080p.

With the technology available today why would wireless be less quality than wired. After all we can watch 4k on an Amazon wifi fire stick?
And picture quality on Gopros ect are superb for the size.

What wired cameras out there are any good and have the same features?

I did a lot of research and went with a Swann wired 4k system with siren and lights package. 4 cameras and 2TB DVR thing. Can view it remotely and it acts as an alarm in my workshop.
In my opinion its better to deter than try and catch anyone. I forgot to turn the siren off before walking in the other day and boy did that make me jump..
Cost £350 but it offers far more protection than a single camera somewhere which just sends a notification.

I used a internet over powerline adapter thingymabob to get the internet down at the workshop and have a camera for the driveway that is done via a similar system.

I ended up going with the Eufy system and I am truly impressed with it. The picture quality is amazing. I have installed a pan and tilt version in the garage which can detect a person and follow them around the room in complete darkness with crystal clear image. There are loads of features in the app and is accessible from anywhere with your phone. I'm still playing with it.

The garage is in complete darkness.

Not keen on wireless or broadband based systems, we all know they can be hacked, like these ring door bell systems, cut the broadband fibre or cable and that's it

I would imagine if you can hack them you can disconnect them from the hub / router plus would you really want people being able to watch you 24 / 7

ring doorbells watch your house getting burgled by scrotes in balaclavas and there's nowt u can do about it if your away or as said just cut the cables outside your house

This system records to it's own hub not cloud but cloud storage is an option. The pan and tilt camera is self contained with it's own SD card.
I can do more if I have footage of the scrotes rather than not having anything.
It sends me alerts as soon as a person is detected so I'll just ring my next door neighbour who will nip round with a baseball bat.

I have put up a good few cameras plus extra IR led lamps, you can see them at night so I think the average scroat will be hard pushed to tell a camera with red led from just a red led lamp, looks like I have twice the number of cameras! got one in a stainless housing in the roof of the open porch by the front door, quite obvious, not many scroats will try to break in without first knocking at the door to see if anyone is in,

I have looked at these as a possibility to extend my network. Having read the manuals though it appears that you have to have them plugged into the same circuit. I would welcome your experience of this.

Hey, yes they work best if they are on the same circuit however they will still work if they arent. I am fortunate enough that whoever installed the electrics in the house was an absolute moron . My supply for the workshop first goes through the pantry where they decided to install an oven socket. This then extends down the garden to the workshop and garage. So I plugged mine in to the oven socket as we have our oven in the kitchen.. like normal people..

It was working on a seperate circuit but was at about half the speed.

Ive got cameras but to be honest I dont really see the point....all they do is show you being burgled.......the pictures are rarely good enough for much else

Cameras are a reactive, you are effectively looking at history. A necessary tool after the event, but far better to have other means of notifying you of a potential problem, *before* it becomes one.

placing PIRs to cover areas out of your domain, to switch lights on, can be a good deterrent and also allow the cameras in other areas time to react to the increase in light levels.

Yes, I but because I've set it to keep getting notifications when it sees someone it will be snoozed for xx hours when I'm in there so che can't see what im up to
