12mm Round Bar Bending Jig

Whats the best bending jig to make to bend 12mm round bar. I need to get 15x 135 degree bends roughly the same.

I've used various little contraptions over the years from Pipe Flanges with bolts, to little jigs like this that ive quickly knocked up for one off jobs but none are ever perfect.

How about a reinforcing bar bender, that will bend 12mm.

i have a stop bolt and also a little adjustment with mine so i can adjust the bend a little more

very consitent bending with same profile every time

I have fitted a longer board for longer lengths when bending stuff to size

you can roll bar with it and make a circle with it as well

more versatile type of bender for me brad

use what you have , but a bit of heat first and it will bend like toffee.

make a jig out of a bit of flat bar say 8mm x 40 welded to a bit of decent plate , put a post at one end as an anchor , heat bar and you can turn stuff like that out as fast as you can heat it.

If you've got something that will do the bend already use that, just set up it up in a way that the material is always loaded the same, and that when bending you always stop in same place.

not possible unless you have a stop bolt when bending it not forgeting spring back of the material

the harbour freight model has this method as mine does by using a bolt / a twist bolt so factors in this spring back as well as the stop part as well

used mine often comes really in handy when its needed and i hardly use it

Set mine up on bench. Adjust the stop until I get perfect bend after the spring back. Not at home or id take a pic.

I think I’ll build a Hossfeld Type Bender.

Probably need to get hold of some S355 or higher yield steel though. S235 flat bar isn’t the most rigid stuff.

I’ve found the dimensions online. Think it would be best drilling the holes really as they’re all imperial and I’d want the pins to be a good sliding fit.

Will be a bit of work making the pins, probably want to be EN16 at least.

unless you have the round part at the bottom where you can fit a bolt see video

this aids you in bending to the exact size and over bend needed everytime

if you want brad i can give you all dimensions for it mine fits straight onto a vice

and is held by a vice handy as well

I never realized how versatile those benders were until I seen that video. I was planning on building one and was going to get the pins from my local agri supplier, they have a whole wall of various diameter and length pins.

I think I’ll build a Hossfeld Type Bender.

I think I might have made a model of one sometime ago (in Sketchup sorry)...

Had I done that in Fusion (I may yet) I'd be happy to share but Sketchup models for CNC? I'll reserve those for my enemies.
