A local skip firm had a contract with the Police in the 70s to get rid of porn mags that had been confiscated.
It'll ended up in an open shed, close to where I lived. Tons and ton of European mags, even in the late 80s you couldn’t buy a mag with full on shots. Talk about wild life never seen so many beavers.

They used to shred them and sell it off as package stuffing - garage I worked in had brake parts come in with the shreds filling the boxes, cue the stickytape and nowt done for an afternoon...

At the same time I was at the workshop, We could watch the "ladies of the night" coming off the boats every morning and picked up by taxi's, Got a surprise one morning, A girl I was at school with was among them, She was only around seventeen, Never any girls coming off Chinese crewed boats, Used to watch the chinese crew members walk into the nearby town and come back laden with carrier bag full of food, the ship owners articles for the crew were displayed in the corridor, including what food allowance the crew were fed and it was absolute cr@p, So they would buy their own, Corn flakes, eggs,bacon etc, I used to go on the boats at dinner time to buy, cartons of 200 cigarettes and bottles of spirits to flog to the rest of the works, 200 cigs were a £1-00, Bottles of spirits a £1-00, If i was lucky enough to get Dimple Haig, that was £1-5s-0. Strangely enough the customs office was next door to our workshop, but they never bothered me, Could watch six of them in boiler suits carrying their cases to do inspections, lots of tools and mirror on long sticks involved. Great memories.

Living in a port town, brings its benefits. (Goole is the furthest inland port in the UK. I believe its classed as deep water as well.)

I remember Middlesbrough notorious pubs etc, As mentioned, The Bongo Club, the Captain Cook pub and the Robin Hood pub, All frequented by ladies that liked ships!! One of the most popular was "Scotch Mary"
Another pub was the "Junction" at South Bank,

I had a green Mobylette Motobecane, then a purple Fizzy and then the YCS5E (200 Electric).
