Hi All, had ordered some grinder wheels for my bench grinder and unfortunately they arrived damaged with a couple of chips out them. Are they safe to use like that or better off scrapping them? They got replaced anyway but one of the new ones has a big arrow penned on it as pictured. Any idea what thats about? Thanks

The arrow is the heaviest point on the wheel.. mounted at the bottom , in an ideal world , but usually ignored in the real world , and with the chipped wheel it really wont matter at all ,, you can spend some time to true a wheel in the machine and it can make a difference, but I really have better things to do so I tend to ignore it , bung them on and get back to what i was doing.

Never seen one for real, but plenty of CCTV
Seen one fire through a screen on an enclosed grinder. The ballistic glass which was scratched was replaced with Perspex as it was cheaper to replace more often. Chap was quite lucky, he only spent 2 months in hospital
I should probably put the guards back on mine then, not the perspex spark guards the metal wheel guards 
Took them off as it was a pain when the wire wheel caught and undid the nuts and you can get bigger things against the wire wheel without them on.
It's only a 6 inch clarke thing and a H&S nightmare but it won't die, sounds like I could though.

do a ring test on it ,if ok fit it give it a run and cut it back using an old 4 and a half inch cheap diamond cutting disk . as long as no vibration it will still be reasonably balanced and true

Yup, but better using a screwdriver handle or something than metal to tap it - and those AldiLidl diamond discs are great for truing and can even be used to put a profile on the wheel when you're desperate!

Not much to show for it now, but it used to look a lot more impressive

Another thing not mentioned is when you mount a new wheel stand to one side when you first turn it on, then let it run for several minutes before you go and stand in front of it. If it's going to let go it'll probably let go right after it's been mounted.
