Are there any other sadists on here still using these beasts? I regularly use this (relatively) small one:

I like it, I paid a fiver for it a few years ago and it’s so much machine for the money. It’s ideal for mixing large quantities of things like fibreglass but I also use it in the house to mix plaster:

Using it for this kind of thing limits the scope for it to injure and maim (clearly it’s main purpose ) which is a bonus, but at the other end of the danger spectrum i also use it with large hole saws on steel plate which can get interesting!

So does anybody else still use anything similar? Maximum respect to anybody using one of the huge Wolf ones without a stand.... Scary!

Nice, that one looks particularly ancient.

I have a larger Black & Decker one with a long handle on either side but it’s up in the loft. I don’t trust it electrically apart from anything else....

OK mine is a big chest drill that I last used 15 years ago for mixing sodium silicate foundry sands. Found on a pallet of foundry stuff recently unpacked having been stored outside for 13 years

I’ve just had a quick look and seen the prices, flipping heck, you’d think they are made of precious metals and studded with gem stones

Values must have increased of late, there were loads of cheap ones not long ago. A bit like old anvils really....

Not tried it - it's now in a dry place but I expect that it's siezed

I like this drill because it refuses to die. It gets used all day and doesn’t play up. I’ve done most of the lathe with wire wheels and non-woven scotch pads. A feature of this drill is if you hold the white bit it warms your hands up on cold days!

Wouldn't mind a Desoutter drill gun to match the straight grinder of theirs I have.
