What is this tool challenge

An easy one I suspect but honestly not sure.

Found these on the side of the road. One little bit of I beam which will come in handy for something and a hugely heavy cast iron (?) lump.

My guess is it's an old concrete float. Still, half an inch of decent cast iron, sure I can find some use for it, even if it ends up being a nice door stop.

I’d go with that, suspect it’s some sort of tamping device, probably used in a foundry.

Might even have been custom made for a specific job

It seems to have vent holes at opposing corners so I would say it is for a wet or semi wet substance.

Or just to break the air lock if going in a tight mould?

Get off them tenter hooks, it could hurt in the long run

Part of a zip line, the cast bolted to a tree, wire into the handley bit and the I beam is a step to get up to wire

So it is exactly one foot by about 7 inches.

Bolted through the pivot.

The spike is the remnant of a bolt end and square nut. The hole is unpopulated and there's one at each corner.

This is the head of the bolt, one each side.

Almost certainly came out of an old Edwardian house/garden.

I think that's it. Interesting. I have bare floors but damned if I'll ever be polishing them!

Still, I think it deserves a dip in some citric, see what's left of it...
