Made the pillar drill stand on its own feet today. Well over due.


Steadily sorting the workshop have all machines I'll need just be nice to over time buy newer stuff.





Not my nicest welds but its been a while maybe 5 months.
Not helped being in a bad position basically free hand, my bench isnt completed.




Tried getting my welding table top on but at about 130,kg i gave up

use your free hand to support either way nice and consistent mate

Not made today but installed it today, 12mm square bar with a half twist, the hook forged from 10mm round and the bracket eye from 6mm round, mushroomed a head into it to stop it pulling through while still allowing it to swivel. Hopefully some strawberries in a few months.

Exactly used a felt type pen I think from Farnell was a few years ago. Expect there are better ways to inhibit now
Etched 5/7th off. Made a Plastic bath to etch it in
The head and block had been laped as well it was a Hudson strait eight lovely engine side valve splash lube all rods, crank, pistons balanced, ports opened & polished superb cast iron quality, built an 8 into 4 to1 free flow manifold exhaust ports same out of left sideof block verticaly so manifold went up and over engine to drop out on drivers side
300rpm tick over with 3d piece ballenced on head.
Overdid the bores that was the reason for the gasket
Was screwed if it had not worked
Liners and 8 more pistons

Its a Sebastian, its awaiting me to finish the electronic leadscrew. For an old unloved machine its pretty accurate.

I made a custom coupling for the FP2. The drain hole for the vertical table (moves the X-axis) for cutting fluid is in a very tight spot once the table moves to the extreme right of it's travel, it only has a little clearance between the saddle and table during that time.

The elbow coupling I bought did not fit so I made my own with an integral hose barb, that allowed me to get size down. I had brass to make this from, but brass is expensive and I was afraid of screwing up. Aluminum seemed to work.

Assume you mean the twists!
Try and keep even force on the wrench,however sometimes they bend need a bash on the anvil,or a push with the fly press,if I’ve hit the twist even with a copper hammer ,if it’s red ,it’ll mark.

A tiny project but I'm chuffed with how well it has turned out. Made a dowel jig out of short lengths of bright mild steel (25 x 3 equal angle and 25 x 3 flat) lightly TIG welded together - and a 6mm hole marked out as accurately as I could. Works well and I'm just about to glue and clamp up some iroko.
