find it strange how the engine itself is just so small. Going to be stripping down that engine on the left will have to put some photos uphere, Interesting engineering

Rather you than me. I swapped an RX-8 engine a year or two back, and it was the singularly more hateful car I've ever had the displeasure to work on. I DESPISE the renesis engine with an absolute passion. Most awkward, fiddly, complicated and unreliable piece of crappy design... and after all the hard work, just a sheer disappointment to drive.

Unlike the earlier 13B-REW engine, which once you got rid of the stupid vacuum lines, was relatively simple and a whole load of fun and power to be had.

I cannot stress how much I hate the renesis engine, it's got me triggered and I'm sitting here with a frown of displeasure.

Heavy drizzle today so after being to the Surgery I couldn't be bothered changing clothes to get out into the cave. Instead I made these [sultana scones], something I've been planning for a while.



I passed a couple straight from the oven to Mrs Neighbour for her verdict [she bakes a lot so would know]. 5 mins later a phone call "They're delicious, we've just scoffed them! So, result! I know what I did wrong for the appearance, but I've sampled one myself and she was right - who'd have known.....

And for @The_Yellow_Ardvark, just to prove I have more than my Nescafe mug.....

i find using plain flour instead of portland is a big help...


actually, on a more serious note:
my hands are apparently too warm [1] for baking.
you have to keep the butter/lard as cold as possible otherwise it just goes horribly wrong.
i've had much more success since i started using powertools [2] to mix dough, rather than my hands.

1. warm hands. cold heart.
2. a kenwood chef. not a belle minimix, although i have been known to use a milwaukee cordless to whisk omelettes.

Those scones look tasty! Nothing better than one with 1/2" thick smear of clotted cream and a big spoon of jam on!

It's been glorious here, a perfect opportunity to put a new table top on our patio table that got smashed during the storm a bit back.
Used an old sleeper that's been kicking around in the garden all the time we've been here. Sliced it up on the table saw and inlayed it into the original frame.

Sanded and sealed. To my surprise the missus actually approved of it... and to top it off ive got a carrier bag of saw dust ready to be deployed next time I chuck a load of oil over the garage floor!

Made up this today so I don't have to reach to the back of my welder to switch it on and off. It's held on by the cable tie so if it gets bumped or caught in anything it'll come off rather than break the switch.

That looks like a pleasurable switch to use, a rocker switch might have been a bit more problematic.

pull the covers and extend switch cable to front and fit there, power off etc etc when doing it..darn nuisance at the back your more liable to have an accident reaching around I think

Used FC to etch solid copper head gasket used inhibiting paint round stud, water ways & cylinder, worked well, reason 2 central cyl were tighter than an over bored A Series

Stand to hold the vice from 40mm box I had left over . Sds went dead before I got the second bolt in but at 15 an a half stone I can barely budge it so itl be grand with a second bolt .
Also fitted a socket instead of a bar on the vice so I can use a t-bar or a ratchet to tighten and loosen

My solution to a similar problem, the push buttons on the mill don't work, someone tried to convert it to single phase, I will sort it out properly when I get it down to my shed from it's current location in the attached garage,
