Whoever signs this job off needs giving his notice and becomes unemployed...This mess was a road repair made today at the bottom of my road...its been highlighted with white road paint for 2 months and they turn up with 4 men and hand over this to the council tax payers as a repair..laid over dry dust with no bitumen primer and nothing dug out, in fact its that thin you can see the road below it. Wirral borough Council (Labour controlled) you should be ashamed of yourselves if you pay the Monkeys who laid this

Ive seen some bad road repairs but this takes the p 1 s s ..told my missus to report it in the morning as ime not paying for that out of my tax bill.

Really gets me this stuff, utility companies come along dig a hole and it's rarely a decent repair, even if it looks good initially it then sinks later on either that or they leave it in a hump and it doesn't sink

and if they don't reply or do anything see the local councillor and they and the higways must reply in a certain amount of time . no shuffling it under the carpet nowadays

i stopped behind a highways van at the lights on the A 406 # A4020 for those that know it, passenger jumped out, grabbed a handfull of tarmac from the back of the van, dropped it in the hole, stood on it and jumped back in the van ready for a green light getaway, i wonder how much the council were billed for that ?

Can't say I have seen as bad as that, even if it was there 1st day on the job would have to know that will be gone in a stiff breeze. Definitely report it what a waste of time/money

I just went to see councillor about our access road sinking and getting muddy of the grass verge 2 weeks ago at the meeting . will give it another week as i want an answer. I said I would chuck a load of dolomite over it if it wasn't sorted ohh no you cant do that . well get it fixed then

What's dolomite....I have been looking for a barrow of tarmac to temp fill a few small holes in my drive. Can't get it anywhere.

Dolomite is also know as type 1 or hardcore.

I would not like to point the finger at London's road repairs but the Vito needed a rear spring this week, that is odd thinks me so I dig out the old receipts it last replaced two years ago.
Both times it was cracked on the very first coil at the top and un noticeable until MOT time, no creaks and the van did not list to the side.

Looks like cold lay probably not permanent
I do alot of work on the highways and the hoops that need to be jumped through are insane
So temporary repairs happen alot

Have not seen a decent repair in years no cut out, no seal\tar around edges, water \ frost seeps in car goes over & hydraulics repair our local council seems to think it is ok though
when I complain
Cost 1 man +van to spray around hole, at least 2 + lorry to repair !!!! then man = van to sign it off
Old way was 2 men lorry load of tarmac told to fill holes between A & B they worked for council.
What good is cold lay on A & B roads it is temp repair so not realy cost efective in long run
I am getting old & crabby hate S*** work

Must say that the Welsh authorities tend to be pretty good around here. They rarely bother with doing a bunch of repairs until it gets too bad and then simply resurface the lot.

I understand we have less traffic than say the south east but the speed at which roads can be resurfaced how much inconvenience would it be to schedule a night time closure and get in a load of vehicles to redo a mile or so at a time.

I can't remember exactly where it was but somewhere reasonably local a major A road was resurfaced in a couple of nights. You'd have thought it was daylight with the number of vehicles operating but they just had a pair of planers out in front with a load of lorries collecting the chippings. Followed a few hundred yards back by the tarmac machine and another fleet of lorries and then the rollers, followed by the line painters. Just a rolling road-laying team. Was actually quite impressive.
