That's exactly what I was thinking. Shame it wasn't a couple of days ago, we had half a sheet of plasterboard in the hall leftover from new door frames being fitted but the joiners came back to clear up all the stuff they'd left. Where can I get a square foot of plasterboard then.

Cheapest option will be a handy board from. Diy shed 600*1200 usually
If the wall is 12mm get 9mm. Gives room for easyfill without building up

This is where I admit to repairing a hole in a wall, by screwing a piece of strapping at the back of the hole, then a lump of plywood onto that. Cheap filler from the Poundshop, and a lick of magnolia.

Got us our deposit back, though.

Made a poker for the mini companion set @eSCHEn kindly posted to me. Still a bit finishing and painting to do, but I can’t make up my mind if I’ve left it a bit too thick, it looked fine in the lathe, but now...

If it's too thick keep it as is , as a dibber for sowing seeds in plant pots ...… like wot I did .

The house is being renovated when we move out and the doorway next to that wall into the kitchen is being bricked up so I'm not worried about painting it, it would probably be fine if I just explain what happened and leave it.

Only half the house knows what happened too and we're not letting on so the other four are coming up with theories of who/what did it, great fun.

More than once I've pushed an automotive hard grade scotchbrite pad in a fair sized hole , having three or four tails of cotton thread on it then pulled it back to the inside of the hole . Pushed drawing pins in several inches back from the hole and securely trapped the cotton thread so the pad does not move. Then gently & carefully part filled the hole so it sets below the finished level of the wall . Once set snip off the threads , remove the pins & gently fill it slightly proud and sand off when dry , then repaint it.

Nicck, Where are your galvanizers , I can't seem to find one within 50 miles of the west end of the M4 & I have family in the Leominster area . I could kill two birds with one stone ……………... if I'm lucky .

1 Correct my friend
2 just scrap 3mm sheet 6mm rod and 8mm rod glued together with the mig,plus a dash of black satin

I started trying out the suggestions from @barking mat & @The_Yellow_Ardvark for freeing off my Daimler pistons. There’s diesel, engine oil & paraffin in the left and full fat Coke on the right.
I doubt the map torch will have enough heat to do much but we’ll see.

Remember trying to shift seized pistons years ago , ended up making a tool to push the pistons down which bolted on using the head bolt threads and a large nut welded on that had a bolt through it pressing down on the piston if that makes sense . Tightening the force bolt down gently whilst leaving the piston soaking in penetrating fluid worked in the end to get it moving , took some time though

Not exactly stuff I made today: I made this a couple of days ago. It's an online calculator for working out tap drill sizes if you want a non-standard thread engagement (e.g. for hard or thin materials). Works for both thread cutting taps and thread forming taps.

Amongst other things, while broken down with a trailer brake fault this morning, I made a shelf for the undercab storage locker, then fitted a couple of plastic trays to keep the dash tidy, and hardly a major job, but a piece of velcro tape around the handle of my flask has brought an end to 7 years of incessant rattling while tootling my merry way around this green and pleasant land .

I have to hold longer items in the forge otherwise they fall out, means waiting to heat between working on a piece of steel, been meaning to do it for a while and finally got round to it today, simple stand from some old bits and pieces, already had the base made up from something else, an old bit of rusty scaff tube with some pigeon droppings gluing it on and some steam pipe. I'll go to the scrap yard at some point and find an old screw jack and use the thread to make it height adjustable but for now this will do.
