Work boots

Yet another pair of boots gave me wet toes today after under a years use
I see people claiming 2-3 years from a pair of boots and wondering whether anyone can recommend a pair that last me a bit better
Or is it just that I spend my time wading around in mud and on building sites
I like the tall lace up style preferably without a zip as it seems to be a week point
Have been looking at Engelbert Strauss but no actual reviews of them

Hard to compare one mans work to another.
I’m getting about 8 months out of a pair of cat boots.

I’ve tried Wolverine. Comfy but insides fall apart. Had three pairs.

I’ve tried doc martins, soles fall off, mega comfy for the two weeks they lasted.

Dewalt cheap crap, muck your feet up.

My dads currently on Ariat boots but no good for wide feet.

I have a pair of Engelbert Strauss, mine are specific towards the welding trade and my first pair with them so can't speak for regular boots of the brand. I find them comfortable, even for 6+ hours, reassuring and tough. I've noticed a couple of scuffs on mine recently, although I don't go out of my way to keep them mint condition and use the protection as a convenient means of kicking frames into place should the need arise. All I do with mine is bring them inside and wipe them down. Only had them about 3 months mind, but if they last 12, I'd be buying another pair.

Dunlop boots work well for me. I do add insoles from decathlon.

I quite like using Buckler boots. I use their Dealer Boots every day and a pair lasts two years. Slip on "Chelsea Boot" style.

Dickies work boots are quite comfortable but wont last six months,I normally go for a slip on dealer type workboot.

i was recommended - on here - a specific set from Screwfix - Now about to buy my third pair, very comfy, water proof for a while and the longest lasting at 12-18 months. I quite like using Buckler boots. I use their Dealer Boots every day and a pair lasts two years. Slip on "Chelsea Boot" style.

I wear these In The summer or when I'm garunteed to stay in a cab all day and get two years from them but that's probably only equates to less than a years daily use
I just need to find some lace ups for winter and when slip ons are banned
I like the look of the ariats mentioned above

I've got the bucklers with the rubber over the toe at the moment, only lasted three weeks before I wore through the fronts. not much good.

I wear lace up Cat boots for driving the van, pricing and little jobs but have a pair of Hyena rigger boots for site work. They’re not the most comfortable but they are warm and waterproof. My first pair so will probably try something else next time.

I may also try the Bucklers slip on dealer boot when the Cat boots are right for the bin, although I’ve had them 2 years and still going

I just bought a pair of riggers online, can't comment on longevity but they are keeping my feet dry and only cost £14.99. Free postage over £20 order so I bought a box of disposable gloves as well.

I’ve got a pair of Kevlar DMs

Proper comfy and waterproof.

Only issue I’ve experienced is that the quick lace metal bits chew up the laces.

Cheap enough to replace few times a year.

These boots have been going for three years, but I do look after them.

They get polished every few weeks

I have a pair of Grisport Boulder boots, Italian leather & very comfy. They have a side zip & after a while it doesn't stay closed - solved that by wrapping the laces around the ankle before tying, it keeps the zip closed!

I've got over 3 years semi-regular use from them, the soles are worn smooth but the uppers are still perfect! One thing I really like is that the tongue is all leather & runs to the top of the boot so your foot is protected from stray weld spatter & waterproof to the top! They've also got a great bump cap on the toe to stop you wearing a hole.

I bought a pair of the ex army Altberg boots. Just as comfortable as the Grisports, handmade in the UK/Italy and very well put together. The standard boots are not steel toe capped but the Peacekeeper ones are.

Currently Red wing zip sides the all american boot made in china - still running in . bit iffy not much tread on soles either

I bought a pair of the ex army Altberg boots. Just as comfortable as the Grisports, handmade in the UK/Italy and very well put together. The standard boots are not steel toe capped but the Peacekeeper ones are.

Altberg will resole the boots for you, one tip is to your thier own ledergris polish - my altberg bike boots are now 9 years old and still going strong.

I think that may be model dependant and they do quite a few.

I wear Dewalt Titanium, goretex lined and they are really comfortable, I'm on my second pair and I'd buy another pair tomorrow. The only issue I've had was with the first pair when the top lace hooks snapped, I think that was when I was working on my roof and they got snagged when sliding up and down. Bought some new hooks on ebay.
