Hi all
I've worked in a heavy foundry for a the last 40 years and I can't believe the stuff i've found in the skip at work! (Yep- I'm a skip rat but only at work!!), I've loads of stuff in my cupboards at work but some stuff i've fetched home with me!!
I brought home this fab Bosch 110v SDS drill a few weeks ago that had been binned but works a treat, It works great but has gone past it's pat test date so I assume that's why it was chucked away (Contractors lobbed this!)..
Also found this 45 minute charger and two batteries that were almost fully charged, I put them in my cupboard and forgot about them for two years, When I remembered them they were still almost fully charged, 10 mins each saw them full so I looked up what drill fitted them and bid on one on fleabay, Opening bid was 99p but I was shill bidded by the seller, I was outbid in the closing seconds (Max bid was £20), The seller got in touch instantly saying the winner had backed out so I could have it for the £20 i'd put as a max bid!
I was happy enough to pay the score and it turned out to be the best battery drill I ever had!! It never runs down even after months of non use, The old NiCad ones were always flat wjhen not been used!
I even ended up getting the case off fleabay too!
I asked the maintenance why they were binned, They'd ran over the drill and destroyed it with the fork truck!!
Another day they were cleaning the fitting shop up for an important visit and threw away around 200 drill bits, Most of them hadn't even been used!!
Also got this BA Helicoil set that had been thrown out, Noy had to use it yet though!!
I have an 8" bench grinder too in one of my cupboards, I asked the fitters what was wrong with it, They said the switch had packed in and couldn't be bothered putting a new one in so they bought another machine!!
Anyone else found good stuff that was binned?
John
