Anyone ever had a long lasting angle grinder?

As title, 115mm 240v no matter what I buy the god damn things die within a year. It’s always the same thing, the armature starts growling bit by bit. I’ve had possibly 13 grinders in ten years ranging from £10 budget to £70,dewalt, Bosch blue Makita and more.
I just can’t find one that will do the duration of the warranty.

I use steel 4.5” cutting discs and those twisted nasty nasty wire wheels so it’s metal dust that I think is the killer. I can’t use any thing too vicious as I use it single hand and it needs to be narrow body with one hand easy switching.

Anyone on here using one everyday on metal that’s been impressive?

My Hitachi has is still going strong after 5 years but it doesn't see anything like daily use so maybe that's why, I know other members here rate them quite highly though.

My oldest is a green Bosch that is 10 years old, it's stripped the underside from 3 cars and been through thousands of slitting discs as well as a couple tons of slabs and everything else Inbetween so it's ingested almost everything you can think of.

Still on original brushes.

Isn't a death within warranty a good thing, new grinder every year for no cost?

SKIL, cheap alternative (used to be part of Bosch, don't know if that's still the case though. Mine are used daily, not abused, but hard worked, still going strong. Weak switches, but once you know how to fix them it takes minutes every now and then. I bought a few recently, last count I have 6 ( grinding disc, wire wheels, flap disc etc, I leave them dedicated to one job.... only blown one up in 5 + years and that was under waranty and fixed right away. To be fair can't really fault them.

I have had my 4.5" Black and Decker for probably 20yrs, Dewalt about 10yrs. I'm not using them every day though. Blasting them out with the air line makes a difference and it's amazing how much crap comes out.

Dewalt and Blue Bosch over here...I think the old Bosch stuff seems better than the newer stuff.

Mine don't get a proper hammering but I'm not exactly a light user either.

I can't remember the last time I killed a power tool (through use...beating them to death with a hammer doesn't really count). Last one I think was an evolution finger file...after their excellent chop saw I assumed all their stuff would be as good...how wrong!

I've got an ancient black and decker grinder it must be 30 years old. I've had loads of others over the years all of which have failed after time but the old B&D just keeps going.

My Makita is over 20 years old, only gets hobby use. Spent a few months drowned in a bucket of water, hung it up to dry and it fired up no bother

Had a Ryobi when they were blue. Held up for 20 years. Mainly cutting out rusted steel from various cars so fairly easy job for it but it was good.

Argos!! 1000 watt, 115mm with a knuckle guard, comfy to grip because your fingers don't have to hold a motor, just a handle, like a baby version of a 9" grinder. It had years of abuse in a fabs shop, on ships and on site, still my favourite after about 15 yrs. Sometimes you get lucky and random cheap carp is better than Makita. Sometimes.

buy 2 of them one for for cutting and one for using the wire wheel on what you will find out its the wire wheel thats causing them to give up

i have same problem with grinding the pointing out on houses the grinder only lasts that one job and i need another as bearings have gone in it

Bought another dewalt because of that one but now made in China and it didn’t make the first day out

I've a 9 inch makita grinder that's about 30 years old and it hasn't had an easy life, still runs perfectly. It's had the brushes replaced a few times but that's all it ever needed

Used to go through loads of them, then got a Metabo that lasted for at least 10 yrs, finished it off when a wire wheel got caught in my overalls and I couldn't unwrap it before it burnt out.

I have got the same, a graded or ex display dewalt that I paid 35 or 40 quid for about 10 years ago. It has a load of power but always had a slight vibration and the gearbox is pretty noisy.
It's been getting beaten about on a regular basis and just keeps going on and on.

I have bought 2 more the same since and they have both died although they did make 2-3 years and I think some people in the workshop tend to grab the newest looking tool first so the old one might have had a few days off over its lifetime

We run just about every make at work ranging from cheap 600w hikoki to 900 w boch and matabo they last roughly the same amount of time watt for watt it's usually the tool holding it that causes the problems , wire wheels really put strain on them.we swoped wire wheel to 1200 of watt 5inch metabo hasn't caused an issue since

Personally for me 900 Bosch or metabo
Both around 50plus vat

My favourite is an old Machine Mart pro or something. Far far quieter than any of the others and lasting well.

Personally I now only go for German manufactured Bosch, they take a bit of finding as most of the cheaper models are made in China.
A bit of compressed air blown through all the vents helps them last longer.
