BMW328i Coupe

Picked up a new project on Tuesday a BMW 328i 1995 had been lying in a garden for 3 years. Have just renewed all the brakes discs and pads new filters fuel and oil dumped the old oil and petrol and used some additive to clean the injectors.Replaced a worn ball joint and is now booked in for an mot on Monday Morning.Fingers crossed!

Talk about gutted. Had my T reg coupe stolen last night.

And it wasnt even driveable, was still waitin to get a split brake line fixed.

So gotta hope that whoever pinched it either used a trailer, or gave up pretty soon before they crashed it.

Nice tidy looking example theremate. ;-)

It has blisters around the wheel arches and a few other places but my mate has a body repair shop it is booked in next weekend. I will be doing the donkey work to keep costs down and help with the beer.

had to have a head gasket replaced on my 318iS along with a water pump and thermostat, £400, probably more than double that if i took it to sytners

Sailed through its MOT happy days! Took the back road home from East Lothian up past Humbie and then over Soutra in the snow great fun.

Back roads from EL to foot o Soutra Hill would have been a white knuckle ride today Sam!!!

I've been using one for the past couple of years - great fun

Things I now know
Bushes on front suspension are a weak point and the whole car judders when you brake
Keep an eye on oil levels, some motors had porous bores ( most were replaced under warranty, some not )
If you only have 1 key, get a spare cut ASAP
Use someone elses car for long journeys (unless you get your fuel paid for )
Expect 35mpg with very gentle driving, normally get 28mpg when I'm having fun. Cruising at 55/60 is very economical if you can do it.
Heated leather seats are ace
Rear diff from an M5 (scrapyards?) gives you a LSD and stops 1 wheel spinning if you hoof it ( or so I was told )
Expect rust around the wheel arches and the front bumper trim.

Hi Motor is from the later 5 series have a spare key it is rusty around the wheel arches and bumper trim but is going into the body shop on Saturday my 323 was the same. Have seen a few LSD for sale but will keep on looking untill one comes up cheeper.

Spent the weekend in the bodyshop getting rid of the blisters around the wheel arches.Cheers Boris!

328's have the smaller 2ltr inlet manifold fitted (this was todo with insurance in germany)
The one to fit is the 2.5 manifold, with a remap you'll be looking at 230/235 bhp

Dont be ripped off by people selling you an expensive kit!! You can do it yourself with a bit of work On E36coupe.com have a look for posts by ""527alpina"" ( IIRC ) he does what look to be good, neat ready to fit manifolds - but you pay for it from what Ive read....
