Thought I'd get me a sample set to see if I liked them,
Smoked my first one today, an Alec bradley Tempus natural,
I felt like it wasn't quite at the right humidity to burn properly, kept going out, but I really liked the taste. Must admit I got quite a nicotine rush from it, hour an half and there was still a fair bit left

Theyre in a box with boveda pack now, so I'll leave them a few weeks before I smoke one again.

Any cigar smokers here?

Was best man at my mate’s wedding 12 years ago, me and my mates decided to go through the entire cigar cabinet at the hotel... didn’t hurl my ring up but came very close.
Haven’t touched one since.

I like one every few months.

A friends sends a few from Israel, some names I know, others it is a case of:

OK, I will try them.

But I always leave them a few weeks before I open and smoke them.

I don't do it for the hit, but for the taste and smell.

I have to be outside.

I bought a couple of boxes of knock off cuban cigars from Columbia many moons ago, I tried one but I’m not really a smoker so I gave them to my cousin.

Apparently the top layer was ok - ish, but the bottom layer was something akin to setting fire to an old railway sleeper

Since giving up smoking haven't touched them but do miss the smell at times.

What does make the cut is a format that's been dubbed the "6 by 60," which measures 6 inches by 60 ring gauge, making it close to one inch in diameter. Most new cigar lines include at least one cigar with a 6-by-60 dimension, and some cigars are even fatter. A few cigarmakers have gone as large as 70 ring gauge, and a few more are pushing the fat cigar category into 80 ring territory—that's about as thick as the cardboard tube you'd find inside a roll of paper towels. Standard toros and robustos start to look much smaller by comparison.

I love the smell of a cigar, I have in my younger days tried to smoke them but never really got on with them which was quite a disappointment.
We saw this guy on Lanzarote making them in a market, they were not expensive, I could see myself watching the sunset smoking a cigar and sipping duty free scotch.
It took a lot of will power to not treat myself.

My mum always had a cigar when the clock stuck 12 on NYE i did the same way back when i smoked,now a non smoker,the smell puts me right off,your lungs i guess

When I first moved to Long Island, NY my next door neighbour was a roadie for Whitesnake. Whenever they came back from a tour of Canada the speaker cabs were always stuffed with Cuban cigars.

I enjoy a nice cigar, just now and again, Daughter brings me the odd box occasionally when travelling on business, maybe have one a month, On the same theme I have just ordered some excellent pipe tobacco from the USA, Im hoping that it arrives tomorrow, three quarters of a pound for $15-99c but postage was $30-00. Ordered it last Sunday and should arrive tomorrow, six days, I think that is pretty good, Just hope it escapes the duty, or is at least reasonable.
On a funny note, years ago I was at a 'leaving do' a friend of mine , a non smoker turned up with a cigar about eight inches long and one inch in diameter in its own wooden case, It looked great, said he had bought it in Spain when on his hols, Put a match to it and tried a good suck, His eyes nearly popped out with the effort, we stripped it down to find the problem, He had been scammed, cardboard tube full of saw dust, wrapped in a single tobacco leaf and about half an inch of tobacco on the end, Said he had been saving it for a special occasion , At least it was memorable!!!

I used to love cigars. We honeymooned in Cuba in 2000 and spent a week in Havana - had a fantastic tour (just the two of us) of the H Upman factory, where they make Romeo y Julietta and left with what must have been a few hundred dollars (in UK terms) of "samples" for the sake of a $10 tip.

The biggest (must see if I can find a pic of it) was for "your last night in Cuba", the guy said. It was the length of my wife's forearm and I got halfway through it after four hours!

Wife got me a humidor for Christmas soon after and I used to keep it well stocked thanks to business travel - Dominican if I went to the US and Cuban if I went to the Middle East.

That said, I haven't bought or smoked a cigar in probably five years - not sure why - just fell out the habit.
