A solid state drive plugged into the data bus so it has full width of the bus for data transfer rather that SATA controllers or other HD controlllers (bottle necks)

That's a good price. I paid a lot more for my Kingston 120GB four or five years ago. It did prompt me to do a bit of research though. Have just finished installing my three year old Dell Inspirion laptop with an MX500 SSD from Crucial - holy crap what a difference!!!

Longest part of the process was creating the install media on a USB stick using the Microsoft Installation Tool, then several moments to remove the HD and fit the SSD - the Windows 10 installation was done in a few minutes - first thing I did was use Edge to install Chrome!

Any restarts to install updates took seconds rather than minutes...

holy crap what a difference!!!

It's astonishing the first time you see it. My Win10 Pro also starts in about 10-12 seconds, after BIOS messages, that is. I must set it to fastboot.

I ordered a second drive using the link above and intend creating a mirrored pair even though most of my data is on a NAS. It should reduce/eliminate any further downtime in future.

Years ago I had a mirrored array, one drive corrupted and the computer rebooted and wrote to the good drive so I had two corrupted drives . It was in the early days of onboard raid chips but I have never had the confidence to use it again as it took me days to get all my data back.

The thing I really detest about Win10 is the flatness of it, which is why I will never have an installation of it in standard offerings. Then, the taking away of control from the user over things like updates, etc. Stuff that. I found Long Term Stable Branch and I'm set for another half decade of updates and reliability at my choosing, all in Glorious Win7 themes. I did move on from Win2k in the end, and finally, grudgingly accepted XP for nearly a decade, but I've moved on from that, too.
Basically, I refuse to be pushed at the rate MS or any other vendor dictates. I'll go ahead in my own time and they can go spin.

Sadly no....i am considering using the optical drive bay for a 240SSD and keeping the 500 sata in it.

I am not sure how to fit two drives although i know it can be done.

I think i could get a housing for the optical BlueRay and use it Via USB. The one thing i think its impossible to add is USB capability.

I meant to say USB 3.0 capability.....lol

This is actually a timely remnder for me so at this exact moment I am currently re-cloning my SSD to the backup SSD, no need to reboot or even stop browsing

Clone done, shut down computer and unplugged main drive and now typing this from the cloned SSD, simple

What do you use for that?
