Insides have been cleaned but wont be stripping and repainting.
Give them a coat of red Smoothrite. It's a nice contrast to the main finish.

There red oxide atm from the looks of it.Give them a coat of red Smoothrite. It's a nice contrast to the main finish.
Nearly two months since I touched this.
Last job I did was to strip doors shelves and electrics out and untouched since then.
Mainly due to knowing how much of a pita getting the motor and countershaft out is going to be.
Early finish so gonna get the garage in order again ready to push on.
Spured on by todays delivery.
Some tooling for the capstan tailstock.

Haha. Barely notice the toys these days ive lived with them so long.Always enjoy your pics mate
It’s a mix of highly technical machined metal parts and toddler related calamity in the background
This forum is a dangerous place. Colchester did a capstan for the Bantam and until now I’d never felt compelled to even look for one!

Found the capstan a few days after the lathe. Would make a plain turning lathe a useful addition rather than a duplication.
Very cheeky offer. Was up for 250odd and I offered 115. Same as I paid for the lathe but still cheap.
I would. Rear tool post is an excellent t addition. Be lost without mine.Funny how lathes sell for cheap and the additions cost more. If I ever sell mine I’d definitely part it out and sell the machine bare. Big ‘if’ though. I’m definitely not planning to sell this thing.
There’s a Bantam rear tool post on G&M atm, £100 though, can’t justify that

There is a kit one by Hemmingway or someone. I’m intrigued by it, looks to be cheaper too.

Mine has a parting blade and half of my comparator on it with a dti all the time. Great for clocking in a part as its very rigid and moves with the sadle.
Well worthwhile.
Also mount my boring bars on it as allows me to use bigger tooling.
Nope collars sat against the rubber bushingsThe collars sit against the lugs in the cabinet, I take it? Have you checked to see if the lugs on the platform have grub screws?
Yup but aware of the cast iron lugs on the cabinet. You need a BBFH then
Ball breakers to moveThat cab weighs near 300kg.
Solid lump.
