power tool triggered hoover

i would like to make linked sockets for power tool and hoover so the power tool triggered auto-start enables synchronization of the vacuum to a power tool for use when sanding and sawing.
is there such a thing on a market or someone have in mind how to make one ?

I have an Earlex vacuum with a power tool socket, can be used with or without switching the vacuum. Always thought it would be useful to have an extension lead power socket with that facility.

You can get them for computers so the peripherals switch off when you power the PC down. They look like a standard extension bar but the PC socket is designated the master socket.

I too have a vac with a 13a socket built in it operates with the tool that's plugged into it. I forget the make its German I think but really good. The Mrs is into her woodwork so handy for all that sawdust as we share a workshop not good with the mig sawdust!

Most of the main power tool manufacturers make them. We've got a 240V Trend T30 - it has a standard 13A socket on the side that you plug your tool into. Turn on the tool and the extractor turns on and then it runs on for five seconds after you turn the tool off. Nice and easy.

I've not seen those before, clever piece of kit. Looked at a remote control unit a while back that senses the TV remote on/off and shuts the extension lead down.

I have a couple, and they are german so do not fit in UK sockets (using adaptors is not good as they move and the power disconnects) but ok over here of course. I do not know why they do not seem to be available in the UK.
They switch in the vac a couple of seconds after the powertool has started up to avoid load, then cut off the vac a few seconds after the powertool is switched off to clear dust.
TBH, you are best investing in a vacum xtractor cum hoover which has the auto switching built in like the trend mentioned above (which I have also).
This is because they are designed as dust extractors and usually filter out the finer stuff, and usually have a second filter which your standard hoover does not-this can help avoid dust everywhere as some hoovers spit dust back out if the bag is full or the filter get clogged.
You can also get sawdust collectors-jus a separate plastic bucket with ports in the lid-the heavier sawdust falls into the bucket and saves filling up your xtractor.

I have a 110v Makita shop vac that has this facility. Comes in handy.
Always thought there must be a way to cheaply make something like this.

A current sensing relay would be simple enough to control the slave socket. It becomes more complicated if you want to delay the power tool at startup and keep the vac running when the tool is switched off.

I'm reserecting this old thread as I'm after some kind of slave socket to switch on my vacuum when I start the mitre saw up, the links above are dead now so has anyone found something that works?
I don't want to spend too much as it's only for DIY use.

I think I have the one in the broken cpc link above, all it says on it is 'ES Junction power saver' which I can find no reference to it can handle 13A on any of the outlets. my router table has an NVR switch with a 13a socket to plug the router into. i normally run the NVR to an extension and have both vacuum and router switched on ready to rock.
