Simplex combination bench and pipe vice

I couldn't resist.

I don't know the exact size yet but I am expecting a monster.

Jaws open to 12" capacity according to the seller so I am hoping for a six inch jaw. Can't make out the markings but it might be a 61CP which would put it on a par with the Record 634!

Soon find out, picking it up later this week with any luck.

Well to my eyes, it looks like a facsimile of the legendary 634, just not quite as bulky in the jaw

If it is, I can pick it up one bit at a time but you're right, I should probably plan on taking some sort of heavy lifting gear

Not weighed it yet but it feels like 50kg+ maybe 70kg.

Whatever it is, I need to be careful not to cripple myself lifting it.

Handy MX lift is very, err, handy...

I wanted to take a similar picture to compare to the above. I am seeing this for the first time as you.

I must get around to sorting out some lifting gear for the workshop. Despite all my efforts, my back is starting to warn me of impending doom!

I think the Record just wings it. Simplex jaw width is 5 1/2 inches (its a 520CP) and there is a six inch version which I assume would be about 10% bigger in all dimensions (except weight!)

So at 80 odd kg, it's heavier than my anvil.

External dimension appear to be the same or very similar. Record looks a lot bulkier but I have no doubt the Simplex is made from far superior steel.
