Will be welded onto a 54" water main, then once the main made dead, the portion of pipe inside the hatch is burnt out, cut faces dressed and welded then a 80mm thick 'blank' bolted to the top of the flange. Used for access into the pipe for inspection/cleaning. The inside of the pipes is coated with bitumen - very nice for flame cutting through.
Made from 12mm thick plate, rolled to correct radius - 3 runs to each joint - except the stiffeners - they are migratted on!
Please note in picture use of goggles and also face shield for serious grinding operations.
