The answer may be to have a pre-MOT inspection.
IIRC people have taken exempt cars and then because MOTd had trouble getting their "free" classic road tax
Free Classic road Fund Licence is easily available without MOT up to now for qualifying motors.
yeah I'd rather have an MOT though just for piece of mind, for £50 its a no brainer as not all faults (especially brakes) can be seen just by looking at them, and some go unnoticed with normal driving too.
Not £50 is it if having a valid MOT means they try and charge you VED Hence my reference to getting a pre-MOT inspection
