They cut very fast, clean and are reasonably accurate.

They are noisey, shower you with hot shrapnel and the blades are really expensive.

yes they do,but no dust,got the small one,love it,dont uses there on blades ,to dear,use a couple of magnets on the back,helps with the flying chips

I've got that one and I've been very impressed with it.

It's well put together with a case base and is very heavy.

Mine is far better than the abrasive type chop saw it replaced so they get my recommendation.

I'e one myself. Hasn' been used for nearly a year since getting a true cold saw. But I can't allow myself to get rid of it because for certain jobs it's ideal. Accuracy not to bad, speed and cleanliness very good. Chips are easy to clean which is a plus.

I've not googled, but what's the difference between the raptor and the rage? Which is better?

If the rage is better, rage 2 units can be had for almost £100 less.

I've got the pressed steel version in orange, it's awesome for fast cuts and it's pretty accurate once setup but Jesus Christ it's bloody noisy!!!!
I have to wear ear defenders with the workshop closed so that I don't annoy the neighbours, I haven't had a complaint yet but that saw would be reason for one!!
Most of my cuts are done on a small bandsaw, it's very old but very very accurate with next to no noise.

I can't sell the EVO because I use it to chop up pallets for my log burner.

I've just spent a few moments looking, and the fury is now being branded as DIY, the rage as pro, and the raptor as industrial.

But...

On my phone's small screen, I'm really having trouble telling the raptor saw in the first post appart from the rage 2!

There is a parts diagram for the raptor, but I can't find one for the rage 2. I do really wonder if the difference is more than the paint job and the price tag?

A rage two was on my wish list (I'd have purchased it already if it had a dust port) hence my keen interest!

Someone on here suggested putting them in poly bags which can be turned inside-out after the job, saves fighting to get the chips off the magnets. Not tried it myself but seems very sensible.

I was wondering about the same a year ago, but I decided to go with a portable bandsaw. Space is an issue, once I build a table for it I hope to be able to get much more accurate cuts than freehanding. Ideal solution would be a bigger bandsaw on a stand. But you make do...

I lready have the cheapy chopsaw I abuse with wood and particularly old fence posts, but wanted something a little more refined with out the bandsaw price.

Yes they are good, just apply light pressure to the blade and let the saw do the work, also try and cut flat bar, etc on its end as this shall prolong blade life, as for blades being expensive if you treat the blade well cut for cut it out performs abrasive discs, I cut a hole load of 5” x 3” RSJ’s effortlessly recently.

You pay more for blades but save hand over fist on time, they simply cut way faster than abrasive wheels. Obviously that's going to show a saving for someone who's time equates to money. For the home gamer maybe not so much of a factor, but the sheer noise and mess that you avoid from not using abrasive wheels would decide it for me. As said, if used carefully and the work-piece is held securely the blades last a very long time. Its attacking the edges of angle and plate too fast and chipping teeth off that does them no good.

The Evolution blades as mentioned above do last a long time if you don't force them, they cut so fast anyway, Looking at the carbide tips there are 3 slightly different edge shapes that mean each tooth is taking a smaller nibble,

The other thing, some of the responses here make it sound like the blades as disposable. You can the damaged teeth replaced and the others sharpened so if you have a spare you drop it in for service and you'll always have a spare.

I have a Dewalt one which I like but that Raptor does look to have a good solid base.

The key is already mentioned is finding that balance where you get maximum speed without forcing the blade. If you let the blade do it's job steadily the chips do fly as far and they aren't as hot and the machine is less noisy.

I have a Rage 4 but when I got it I tried to cut some rebar, resulting in the loss of 7 teeth off the blade. To be fair that was probably poor technique rather than the fault of the machine but nowadays I only cut wood with it.
