Get the industrial set. The professional set is good but the Industrial cabinets are excellent quality and a lot more robust along with habing deeper drawers.

Totally agree if you've got the spare 150. They'll last longer I think, and swallow more tools to boot.

Another vote for the Industrial set, I got them last year, excellent quality and very heavy!!
The offer then included a Halfords professional 3/8" socket set originally priced at £150-00 that I gave to one of my grandsons,

Sadly the professional socket sets are not what they used to be. I bought one for my brother about 3 or 4 years ago and the ratchets were very inferior to mine purchased in about 2000.

Back a while ago used to be made by draper and they were pretty good quality ones,
The tool cabinets are still very good,
Probably would still have mine if didnt grow out of it,

I have a 2008 150 piece set and it's been used in anger can't fault it. No experience with the new gear though.

TBH most of the stuff is still ok - it's the 3/8" ratchet that lets it down - could be sorted by now of course.

The Industrial toolchests have been on offer in one way or another for a similar price at least 10 years. £800 retail? If they added the middle chest at £420 they would probably shift more.

Halfords have started their "January sales" already (it's not even Boxing Day yet ! )
They've had 3-piece box sets in the past, this is only 2-piece but looks good value for the money
(normal price is £500 - but I don't think anyone ever buys their stuff when it's full price.)

I'm very tempted but the timing is terrible, if they have something similar at Easter it would suit me better.

I kept an eye on the Industrial boxes over Christmas and new year, the prices were pushed up to £450/350/250 for each box and the offer for top and bottom box was £350. A “payday deal” appeared after Christmas offering the middle box free if bought with the top and bottom box for £450. The March offer shows the prices slashed to half price so they are pretty much back to normal prices! Bought the middle box in the week and with a staff discount came to £93.75. Now looking for a matching foot stall so I can see in the top tray!
