So sata is slower that usb 3.0 then? The red has drives are designed to sit in an enclosure with other drives and not be affected by the vibrations.
If you are not putting it in a Nas enclosure then don’t bother.
The USB will be no faster than the SATA drives as they will be a SATA drive inside.
I'd be looking for 2 drives. Backup everything. Lost data years back years worth of songs I'd produced gone never again.View attachment 130242
Looks like its either120 for 2 terrabytes or 140 for 3 or 180 for 4
Doing the maths the 3tb is the best value. But if i got the 2tb and waited 6 months and got a 4tb swapping it over and using the 2tb in my tower. Might be my best option.
Reckon i will get close to the purchase price as i sell of my old drives....
But if i want a NAS i will need external anyways? No. USB is just an interface that will be in front of a SATA drive so is not going to make that SATA drive faster.
On a purely spec’s based comparison USB3 will top out at 5Gb/s whereas SATA III is 6GB/s
One assumes that i could add another drive to that NAS ...i best check...lolI'd be looking for 2 drives. Backup everything. Lost data years back years worth of songs I'd produced gone never again.
Don't think you can to the MyCloud ones, you can add more than one MyCloud to your network though. One assumes that i could add another drive to that NAS ...i best check...lol
Gotta love cloning drives. First thing I do once I've got a fresh install with everything needed installed. Easy to roll back when required.Don't think you can to the MyCloud ones, you can add more than one MyCloud to your network though.
I also have a MyPassport which I connect to my MyCloud once a month and do a backup of my computers drives, I then disconnect it. That way if I get some ransomware I should be fine as there is no way for it to be accessed as it is not connected. I also have a second SSD drive in my computer that I use to clone my main SSD and then disconnect, I re-clone every month. That way I can be back up and running in seconds if something bad goes wrong.
Sounds like I am overcautious but as I keep all of my business info on this computer and also my CAD/Cam software etc it just makes sense to be cautious.
So you dont use the automatic backup on my cloud....Also a good thing about using Acronis to do backups, I can load one of the backups and it acts just like a virtual drive and I can go and grab files or folders or whatever if I have accidentally deleted them on my computer.
So you dont use the automatic backup on my cloud....
I need to know soon..lol
