Weight Loss?

I'm a slim guy, But my 3 ton low entry jack weighs an absolute ton! (43kg to be more precise!) So my next question is there anyway it could loose some weight without compromising its build strength too much? See picture below, I really wish I had bought an aluminium one!

That one above was a costo £100 cheapy and has survived five years of abuse to date, I may have been lucky but would not think twice about buying another.

I have to lift it over a door step & over my slate patio onto my tarmac driveway. I would drag it through the garage door, But it never opens as its barricaded with endless junk.

My brother, who is younger, slimmer and way fitter than I am, got a hernia riding his bike two weeks ago. I laughed at first, but have now learned that he will be off work for 12 weeks, and can't drive for at least that long.
So it's definitely a condition you want to avoid

Take it apart is the only way I can think of apart from maybe losing 200g of paint if you stripped it off.

I noticed @8ob has a cut out on the actual lifting arm. Where as mine is solid plate I believe?!

Would I be right in saying aluminium has similar strength to steel, But is roughly half the weight?

If it is 43kg, which doesn't sound right to me, cutting a wee section out of the part which actually supports the objects being lifted is probably not the best idea and would make stuff all difference to the weight.

It is definitely heavier than a bag of sand/cement & they're usually 25KG aren't they?

What about drilling the side plates like they used to lighten racing motorbikes.
