Mitre saw stand

I have two cheapie B&Q workmate type things, both of which are on their second set of timber and both have some problems with their ratchet winders.
Even if they were in good nick, it's always been precarious putting the mitre saw on them so I finally splurged today and spent £45 on a "Titan" mitre saw stand from screwfix.



Is it just me or is this the same stand as the Evolution and other branded saws on Screwfix, Amazon and Toolstation?

I figure if it grips the saw and doesn't topple over then this a decent price.

wierdly, I've been shopping for one of those this evening.
I've decided to go for the 59.99 erbauer screwfix offering - simply because it has wheels.

Looks exactly the same as my evolution one, paid £50 for that when they were on offer in Screwfix

Looks a lot like mine too. Handy piece of kit (beats working on the ground trying to hold up the ends of a long piece of timber with blocks of wood)

Certainly that picture looks the same as my Evolution one which was 49.99 in store, I initially thought I'd rarely use it but its turned out to be very useful.

I'm going to get or make some more QR clamps for other stuff that migt be handy to clamp to it.

My Evolution one doesnt have this handle

Used a few of these plenty solid enough might buy one. My dewalt one was to big left it on jersey when I moved back anyway

I bought the evolution one from screwfix last year for about £55, cracking piece of kit for the money, for the kids down nice a small for easy storage, only thing is it's quite heavy.

Yeah that’s one thing I was going to say - it’s not exactly light but I guess if they made it lighter it would cost a fair bit more than 50quid ish!!

I got the same one last year as I got fed up balancing long lengths on workmates with blocks of wood on etc.
I tend to mount saws, vices etc. on wood plates with a length of 2x2 screwed to the bottom so I can clamp it in the workmate

I use an old piece of kitchen worktop with a batten screwed underneath, this can then be gripped in the workmate I have [not a B&D one] to provide a better working area.
Doesn't get away from having to clamp longer pieces of wood though......

Now I have seen one and read how handy they are I am 99% convinced I need one, haven't for the last 40 years but that's no excuse...I am fighting that last 1% of need/must have/will come in handy/safer/shiny/cute little yellow turnscrews and more

The Dewalt one that the boys who did our loft conversion used was much heavier and hence sturdier than the Evolution / Titan / XXX I think it had longer outriggers for the material rollers too, its about four times the price though.

We did that for many years to provide an extra table at Christmas time, also a large piece of OSB board dropped onto the dining room table with some batons to stop it sliding around so we could seat enough people. No-one noticed once the cloth was on & the table laid. Outlaws all gone now, so no need any longer
