I ordered about 40 quids worth of stuff from RS the other day, heavy-ish parcels, one was a 1mtr x 10cm diameter thick tube of heavy duty heat shrink, looked like a bit of drain pipe. Came in three different shipments. Would have cost me £24 with my couriers or about a tenner if was to spend hours queuing in the PO.
This is what i don't get with eBay - free shipping on a 15kg reel of wire on sale at £24 inc vat and the 10% eBay final value fee. Even if I bought a pallet of it I'd be selling at below cost at that after time for stocking, packing and invoicing. Why bother?

When you order from one of the good suppliers the items arrive amazingly well packed(RS,CPC,Cromwell) they ship it seems in minutes from the order. Toolstop still ship same day up to 18:30 I think.All delivered free
It really bugs me then that I order something at 11:30 pay £8-9 for next day delivery and it turns up 2 days later because their courier collects at 11:00

I order car parts like pads, discs, filters etc off eBay in late afternoon and they are often delivered next morning

I have to say that it's about time that RS offered free (or even cheap) delivery.
Whenever I've checked them in the past they've had decentish prices for components, but the delivery charge was stuck in the 1990s - it was a minimum of £10 + VAT (so £12) on every order. It probably wasn't a surprise that many people, including me, were happy to wait two weeks to get it delivered from China.
So it's good news that RS have finally seen the writing on the wall and sorted out P&P - I'll definitely check them first, in the future.

I have not looked for a while as it has always been free delivery for account holders. Just wish they still printed the set of catalogues as the search feature is a waste of space to much data entry from non technical staff.

RS has had free delivery for as long as I recall except for a short time when they decided orders under, I think, £20 were charged for. That didn't last long though and they went back to free on all orders.

Just had a look at my last order from them, and it was January 2016 with £10 ex vat delivery.

I was getting free delivery to a none eu country by ordering on my company amex whereas using our account would have meant a delivery charge was made.
Home use and paid by card I've never been charged for delivery, now I sometimes use Farnell for parts and they have ( had, haven't checked recently) a minimum order for free delivery but using the same part number via their CPC portal avoided that.
