online cut list calculator?

Hi

i have quite a long list of different lengths and my head hurts trying to figure out the most efficient way to cut them at the stockholders so they will fit on my trailer, which can carry half a 7.6 meter length, without looking dangerous


anyone know of a good cut list calculator on the net, please?

Not on the net but I have some C# code to do the job if you're stuck. I suspect you'll get an online one soon though

Not online but I did a search on Google play and tried this and it seems pretty good.

This is aimed at sheet materials to optimise cutting lists and reduce waste.
But i see no reason why you could not use for tube and bar. The software wont care what the material just enter the dimensions and it will work out a list.

Surprised because it's easy to do in your head. I wouldn't trust a computer to optimise cuts on sheet as it done know nothing about making those cuts in the correct or even possible order and getting them all correctly square

It all depends what you are doing with it, one product i build in batches of 10 used lots of mdf panels. Just changing the parameters in the software from 1st cuts along the length of the sheet as opposed the width can reduce the quantity of sheets required by 2. Its around 100 components a batch so reducing the wasted material helps.

At school in further maths we had to learn a sorting algorithm that could have been quite easily applied to cutting stock to length, I can't remember how it worked now or what it was called but he said there's no known algorithm that will always produce an optimal solution, meaning there's no guarantee what this software tells you is the best way of doing it. The chances are it will be optimal but in theory there will be instances where you could have done better, in practice I wouldn't worry about it, just thought it was interesting.

I suppose you could, in theory give an offcut length for the remaining bar end.

Considering a pictorial layout of the cuts as well as the textual list but I'm not sure as to its usefulness?
