Ultrasonic cleaners start at £30 now so I thought I'd try one. I paid extra for a heated one, but even at 2 litres, when it arrived the size looked a bit limiting:
So I upgraded to a 6L version:
First item I thought I'd try, a manky old toothbrush. No amounty of scrubbing could get that crud off. 20 minutes in the cleaner, using hot water as a solvent and it got a fair bit of it off:
I wanted to put the toothbrush in for longer, but the unit broke! An hour later the unit was dropped off at my local Collect+ and few hours later refund received from Amazon.
Shame because I wanted to see how it would do on my crusty calipers and I've got lots of bolts to degrease and even hot degreaser overnight isn't getting the grease out the threads ready for plating.
These cleaners have build in heaters that get up to temp really fast so I liked the idea that your combining degreaser, heat and ultrasonic.
I'm in two minds about buying another. I found a UK company selling similar cleaners for a bit more, so at least that way I'm protected by Section 75 (goods must last a reasonable amount of time).
