few runs later
didnt count the runs, maybe 30-40 each armhow many runs 10 approx?
full power ~200amp i suppose with a 3.2mm 7018?
thats a NH tractor I guess, were the hooks welded on originally or have you changed the design a bit
must have a lot of heavy work done to warrant changing them, they are usually a job for life
I have never been into farming but have a few mates that are farmers so i dont look like an idiot what is a topper
didnt count the runs, maybe 30-40 each arm
80amps with 2.5 7018 supercito's
case maxxum 5140
fair bit of linkage work
got fed up with the topper falling of the other day
why 2.5s on heavy steel like that
not as bad as that ,just 1 side fell off 3 timesits a machine for topping grass noting top around here yet
nice job dai popping off is not good for the drive shaft
all i had handywhy 2.5s on heavy steel like that
no idea what the steel was????nice job Dai Bach, any idea what kind of steel the arms are made of? did you have to preheat? did you have much trouble with distortion? springs seems to have come earlier than last year mind. funny how every year its different eh?
dont think its anything too fancyI was just wonderin. I was supposin that the arms would be some kind of spring steel and the actual hooks some kind of alloy( molybdenum is it?or is it manganese?) so's would have needed a bit of special treatment. Im just asking for future reference really...
cheerslooks like you done a tidy job mind Dai bach.

definatly welded better when warmerIt depends on the tractor manufacturer and age of the machine. Some makes just use ordinary mild steel. I've got a weld procedure sheet from waterschied (they make the hooks) somewhere. I think it says something about preheating, but it was years ago, and i've slept since then!
